Sneakerheads have long recognized Tokyo as one of the world’s key centers of influence, and now this new trio from the brand most singularly associated with California, USA shines light on a couple of other Japanese cities as well. The Vans “City Pack” brings together four-colored corduroy looks on the Vans Slip-On (Sendai), Era (Hakata) and Chukka Boot (Tokyo), each blocked in a similar asymmetrical style. Each pair’s insoles and box note their city along with the Vans’ classic ‘Red Tab’-ish fabric tags, and you can see them all after the jump below (which might be the only time, given the limited overseas availability).

It turns out Supreme has been even busier than we thought as far as current collabs go, their pending Nike Air Force 1 release being joined by this, a new set of Vans releases including four pairs of the Vans Chukka and four more of the Vans Old Skool. Each sneaker features a similar suede upper with some metallic touches along the side swipe and back tabs, a theme that almost looks like a reprisal of their approach with the Bruin a few years back. Hit the jump for a full look at the Supreme x Vans ‘Metallic Pack’ and keep in mind that the collection will drop at the NY, LA, London, and online shops on September 13th and the London spot on the 15th.

Longtime Vans collaborator Taka Hayashi has a few new tricks up his sleeves for fall, the first of which is a unique twist on an established Off the Wall favorite. The Vans Vault Chukka LX TH applies the Japanese designer’s premium handcrafted feel to th familiar midtop Chukka Boot silhouette, adding (what looks to be) an asymmetrical leather mudguard and heel, while swapping out the iconic Waffle sole for a lower profile base like the ones he used on his own Akat. Vans has been offering chukka-style sneakers for longer than anyone else, and even with all the boat shoe hybrids and other variations, we’ve never seen one as sleek and sophisticated as the new style pictured above. The Vans Vault Chukka Bardenas LX debuted in late 2011 with a sleeker take on the classic desert boot silhouette, their lower profile, contoured midsoles proving that you can have your classic Vans waffle sole and eat (away from) it too. Three new tumbled leather pairs will hit retailers this May, so click on the jump below to see each of them individually and stick with Sneaker News for updates. via FNG

Perhaps more than any other collaborator, Japanese streetwear label WTAPS has become the face of the Vans Syndicate collection. This partnership has produced quite a few drops over the years, ranging from fresh WTAPS-authored designs to deluxe takes on the classic Off the Wall catalog. The latest belongs firmly in the later category, this three pack of WTAPS x Vans Syndicate ‘Burgundy Bones’releases reprising both a trio of foundational silhouettes and the theme we’ve seen these two use more often than any other. White crossbones embroidered into rich red canvas add tonal suede toes and heels for a lush and warm holiday look, and they’re available in-store only starting Friday, December 9th at Primitive.

It’s an undeniable fact in today’s sneaker scene that a vast majority of new innovations are driven by Nike, Inc., even when compared to the remainder of other brands combined. The company James Van Doren founded in 1966 can lay a similar claim to the skateboarding market in particular, and Vans has even beaten the Swoosh to the punch when it comes to providing support to North America’s aboriginal communities. As a part of Nibwaakaawin‘s 5th Annual Chicago Powwow, a set of Pendleton x Vans collaborative designs will be offered so that proceeds can benefit the organization’s goal of “keep[ing] our Native youth on the red road and in the skate parks.” Check out the whole set after the jump and let us know if you plan to attend the November 18-20th event.

When the Vans DQM General opened in New York this September, it represented a first in America, but a significant second for each of the respective brands. For Vans, it was the second collaborative retail location they opened, following the OTH location in Montreal, and for DQM, their second retail spot overall after the original Dave’s Quality Meat in New York’s East Village. Add a bit of fuzzy math into the mix and you get The General’s first collabo release with 96 pairs each spread across three models. The DQM x Vans ’First Issue’ pack consists of natually tanned monochromatic vegetarian leather takes on the Era, Chukka Decon and Mid Skool ’77, and you can see each of them in more images after the jump. These’ll be out for Black Friday, and you can expect Sneaker News to reiterate that phrase for a variety of additional releases between now and then, so be sure to check back with us for more updates. via SF

It was arguably the Vans version that set off a chain reaction of chukka-infused lifestyle sneakers in recent years, and fitting that we see this newest pack elevated to the peak of premium construction. The Vans Vault Chukka Bardenas LX offers a new approach to building this classic silhouette, many of the design’s key lines removed in favor of a subtler luxe leather getup that’d have a ‘deconstructed’ look if the material weren’t as nice. Pairs in all black and coffee/gum will easily pass as a more traditional casual shoe for dress code purposes, and both are available now from select Vans Vault stockists like Westwood’s Hot Rod.
