Vans has issued plenty of rugged styles in recent years including several boots and trail hybrids. Just about all of those are midtops or higher, which is one of the reasons why this latest revelation feels so novel. The Vans Vault Era 59 Trek LX is a standard Era up top, but the sole looks like a hungry boot sole ate the classic Vans waffle and finished off with the new Prelow sole for dessert. The result is a tasty mix of classic style and offroad traction capabilities in addition to a style that’s sure to induce double takes. Have a closer look below and be on the lookout for these at Vans Vault retailers.

A theme that made its mark on several Vans releases in the second half of 2012 returns in a subtler rendition for the new year. The Vans Era was in fact the last Off the Wall release to feature a native Guatemalan stripe pattern in a low-profile build. This time, it’s the heel-tabbed 59 variation in either burgundy or grey canvas, plus the multicolor stuff on the sockliner. This choice makes these an eye-catching element in your sneaker closet with just a hint of the same effect whenever your pant cuffs rise, and you can see more after the jump before buying at retailers like The General.

The Vans Era silhouette has already been appropriated for use in countless themed releases, but this latest one puts a new twist on the idea of ‘repurposing’. Coming courtesy of the California collection, these new Repurposed Era lowtops are constructed of post-consumer materials like surplus Army bags and vintage denim overalls. The result is a couple of Urban Outfitters exclusive releases that have an undeniable rugged charm and some serious 1 of 1 appeal thanks to irregularities in the material stock. Check out olive and denim pairs after the jump, let us know which looks best and if you can think of another pre-used material that’d make for a dope sneaker design.

Perth, Australia’s Highs & Lows has made a name for themselves on the global stage with a couple of carefully crafted collaborations, and though these new Vans are labeled as the ‘H&L’ pack, this one is an OTW in-house design. The ‘L’ part seems obvious when you see the leather uppers on the Vans Zapato del Barco or the laces on three Era 59s, but we’re still trying to figure out what the leather ‘H’ has to do with suede and canvas, or a tartan sockliner, for that matter. Maybe it’s just ‘heat’ of the understated variety, but irrespective of the capsule nickname, their simple elegance can be seen in greater detail after the jump below. These six are set for Fall 2012, so stick with Sneaker News for US release info and let us know which model and color you like best. via FNG

If you’re a sucker for premium materials, then you are well aware of upsides of copping a sneaker that opts for full grain leather. The upcoming canvas and leather pack from Vans does just that, with the smoother parts of the sneaker getting the smart leather look. Featured in the drop are three different colorways of both the Vans Era 59 and the Vans Zapato del Barco, with the leather lace wrap on the latter repping the look especially well. Also worth mentioning is the sturdy canvas upper, a look that has become synonymous with the Off the Wall brand. Follow us after the jump to get an extensive look at the whole collection, and be on the look out for them next year at your local Vans spot. via FreshNGood
