Vans Vault Original Classics – June 2013 Releases

Vans began cranking out their vulcanized waffle sole lowtops all the way back in 1966. Soon after, the Van Doren brothers recognized that skaters were wearing their deck shoes for the rebellious new sport whose nexus made it a neighbor to the original Anaheim Vans factory. In 1976, Steve Van Doren commissioned the first ever skateboarding shoe, and the Authentic’s padded offspring the Vans Era was born. Along with the Old Skool that debuted the Jazz stripe two years later, Vans Vault is resurrecting classic renditions including the OG Style 36 two-tone colorways and a trio of OG Palm Leaf Eras in colors inspired by the edgy ’80s. These five pairs will hit Vault retailers this June and you can see each one after the jump below.

Sole Classics x Vans Vault “Carmen” – Video

Sole Classics, the sole Vans Vault account out in the great state of Ohio, is being blessed with their own collabo shoe. The shoe in question is of the Vans Era persuasion, and almost manages to pull that sneaker out of its skate heritage what with the basketball style brown leather that pops up on the back end. Deluxe x Vans Era

While suede may have gone the way of the dodo on performance sneakers, the material is still very much alive and kicking in the retro category. Case in point are these two new pairs from the Deluxe x Vans team up, both of which end up with a nappy texture that’s definitely a cut above the standard when it comes to suede. The Vans Era releases also feature some smart bits of brown leather and translucent soles on the bottom. Marvel Comics x Vans Era – Fall 2013

Marvel Comics is planning to link up with the sneaker world once again. The company looks to be back in bed with Vans, who we’ve seen them work with before on a specific release to coincide with Kick Ass, as well as a wider ranging collection that encapsulates a bit more of their classic intellectual property. This forthcoming sneaker, a Vans Era design, looks to be closer to the latter. Hitting across the upper are tons of comic book covers from the company’s rich history, including the likes of Spider-Man, the Silver Surfer, Ironman, the Hulk, and more. Vans California Era “Chambray Polka” Pack

Chambray is a lightweight fabric named for its area of origin in Northern France. Polka Dots don’t have a direct connection to the 19th century bohemian dance, but did emerge around the same time. Their names are based on proximity, and today we see these two fashion staples come as close as physically possible on a couple of Vans California Eras. The ‘Chambray Polka’ Era is presented in two variations on the classic two-tone split, one with white dots on the midfoot and another with darker dots on its soft blue toe and heel. Vans Era “True Blue III” by JP Custom Kicks

One side effect of the booming sneaker custom category is that the “wow” factor is fading away – despite how well-crafted the sneaker may be. This Vans Era “True Blue III” by JP Custom Kicks is definitely an eye-catcher in that most wouldn’t even think of embarking on a custom like this, but we’ve got to give him props for being creative. Using an all-white Vans Era Low Pro as the base, JP adds the signature elephant print with the true-blue treatment on the midsole and inner lining for that funky skate/Jordan connection bridged by this iconic shoe. Carhartt WIP x Vans Syndicate Era Tab “S” – Release Info

Already proving in the initial preview images that Carhartt WIP once again makes a strong visual impact, this video detailing their latest collaboration with Vans makes for a strong follow-up to the duo’s last release. The video for this new Carhartt WIP x Vans Syndicate Era Tab “S” quartet doesn’t feature computer driven changes like their Old Skool clip, though you might think of something like Tron when you see the effect of night skating in the reflective-saddled Eras atop a similarly bordered deck. This is one of the cooler promo videos in recent memory and the appeal is directly tied to the shoes’ real world use. Check it out in full below and get ready for a quick turnaround akin to the zigzag toe stitching, because these will hit select WIP retailers both in store and online tomorrow.
