Nearly every brand has its own take on the skateboarding scene in 2014, but none of them are linked to its genesis quite like Vans. Again taking advantage of that heritage is the new “Golden Coast Collection”, which features some understated takes on timeless silhouettes like the Vans Slip On and the Vans Era, with the attached colorways looking like they were plucked right the 1960s and 70s when the brand was first getting its footing. See the shoes in question below and keep in mind you can grab them now from select Vans stockists across the globe.

Vans had a good thing going with the Switchback boot, so hopefully that one gets back into the rotation as we head back into the fall later this year.  But aside from those, there haven’t been all that many waterproof Off the Wall shoes.  Luckily, Vans Vault has stepped in and changed all that, and the first Vansguard release will show off the protective powers on a trio of new Vans Old Skool LXes.  Kelp, red and True Blue colorways all have monotone uppers, white soles and brown on the tongues and foxing bands, with a hint of plaid on the tongue’s piping.  Click in to see them up close and expect these at Vans Vault retailers in February.

Vans Van Doren Series “Checker Pack”

The Vans checkerboard print has been an iconic symbol of California skate culture since 1982 when the silver screen first said ‘Aloha’ to Mr. Hand.  In fact, there’s such a strong relationship between checkered Vans (specifically, the Slip-On) and Sean Penn’s Jeff Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High that it’s surprising that model isn’t included in this pack.  It all works out quite nicely, though, because this forces a different way of accessing history with the latest Van Doren Series drop including black, white and red designs for the Vans Era, Old Skool and Half Cab.  Indeed, each pair has a throwback vibe in its own right, so click in to see them in greater detail, and be on the lookout because they should be arriving at Vans retailers as we speak.

Vans “Gold Snake” Pack

January 8th, 2014 by | 1 comment

vans gold snake pack Vans Gold Snake Pack

Vans has been going pretty easy on the snake styles for the past couple of months, an approach that we can appreciate given how saturated the scene has been with those sort of shoes thanks to the whole zodiac connection for 2013. In fact, the last time we can recall that they really went in on that theme was for this Vans Authentic “Snake Pack” duo back in the summer. They’re going down that path again with this combo of the Vans Chukka and the Vans Old Skool, but the two silhouettes actually use that print pretty sparingly. Continue reading for a glance at each and then pick them up today from CNCTPS.
