February has given us some of the biggest sneaker releases we’ll see through the entire year.  The second month of 2013 is so chock full of heat that even the lower-profile designs are pretty extraordinary, and we mean that both in terms of public awareness and sole height in the case of this latest Vans OTW release.  The Vans OTW Stovepipe is the first ‘Kitu’ pack piece to arrive on store shelves, its island/tribal vibes manifested in cool, highly wearable colors, depicted further after the jump below and available now at select retailers like Premier.

Vans OTW “Kitu Print” Pack

We’ve seen a huge surge of patterns, prints and graphics of all kinds in the streetwear and sneaker worlds over the past year-plus.  Vans is at the head of the class when it comes to eye-catching prints, having offered patterned canvas skate shoes longer than most of its competitors in the skateboarding market have even existed.  That’s why this new Vans OTW ‘Kitu Print’ pack feels both familiar and fresh: it’s inspired by 1990s hip-hop, is congruent with Vans’ own offerings of the era but still shows an eye toward modern color palettes with the extremely wearable greys, soft blues and greens.  Click through to see the Vans OTW Piercy with its matching Checker tee along with the Stovepipe and Portmore button-up, and look for these at select retailers this February.

Vans OTW “Perf Pack”

The concept behind the Vans OTW Collection is to blend the Off the Wall skate tradition with stylish lifestyle sensibilities.  They’ve taken that a step further with the latest drop, adding daily necessities like a wallet and backpack to next month’s Perf Pack.  The Vans OTW Prelow and Alcon in black and Lasdun and Stovepipe in grey make the most of their perforated suede uppers, but arguably the most impressive piece would be the Washburn Backpack in Pale Mint with perfed grey trim.  Or maybe it’s the Balfour Wallet because that’s where you’ll put the cash that in turn gets this gear; either way, it’s an interesting development toward a trend of expansion you’ll want to watch with regular visits to Sneaker News.

Vans Vault just turned ten years old.  The brand’s OTW Collection is only a quarter of the way there as of today, but by continuing to embrace new materials and designs, this skate-inspired lifestyle sneaker collection has what it takes to stand the test of time.  This new Vans OTW ‘Dot Camo’ pack blends a unique dotted camouflage textile with different amounts of black suede and canvas on the Vans OTW Alcon, Lasdun, Ludlow and Stovepipe, along with the introduction of a new derby style in the Prelow that could spell the end for the Pritchard.  This quintet arrives at select retailers for January 2013 and you can see all of them up close after the jump below.

lupe fiasco vans otw stovepipe available Lupe Fiasco x Vans OTW Stovepipe Available

Lupe Fiasco has been kick-pushing since his rap career began, so him linking up with the most revered skate shoe brand out there only makes sense. The release in question is the Lupe Fiasco x Vans OTW Stovepipe, a clean black leather pair that crams in a good amount of details on the tongue and linings. The look Lupe aimed at is one from the ‘Native Tongues’ era of hip-hop, a little bit of a humorous choice given his famous A Tribe Called Quest lyric flub. The sneakers come with a crazy bag and box to complete the premium package. Click through for a look at the latest from the Lupe Fiasco x Vans collection and look for them at your local skate shop now.

Getting Lupe Fiasco’s Vans OTW collaboration to retail has been a drawn out saga on the order of his own Lasers, but now we see a brand new style and release all on the same day.  A few different Lupe Fiasco x Vans OTW Stovepipe hightops were shown off over a year ago along with the Bedford mids, and while these keep with the simple black leather/black sole we saw on one of those pairs, they’re far more impactful with a tribal weave on the tongue and accompanying gym bag.  Check out more photos below and if you like what you see, they’re available now at select OTW retailers.

Terry Kennedy turned heads and broke necks when his Supra Society hightop debuted in 2010.  That dual-strapped super-high skate signature is among the most distinctive designs ever released, but if you were to chop them down to an average midtop height, you’d more easily see the connections to classic chukka designs.  Somewhere in between is the Vans OTW Stovepipe, a sleek flexion-notched chukka whose low profile waffle sole connects them to the Off the Wall legacy.  At least four new pairs will each provide a different take on this simple design thanks to varying textures and finishes, so click through to ee them all and stick with Sneaker News for release info.  via HB
