Did you hear the news about Wale heading to Flight Club in NYC and buying out the entirety of their Air Jordan III stock? This little video captures that expensive endeavor. Wale explains a little bit of his reasoning behind it, the biggest connection being the fact that his upcoming The Gifted disc will be his third album. One of his associates also mentions the fact that they’ll be releasing all 88 of the pairs with some sort of custom additions, which might be that Jordan Brand project he hinted at. Take a look at the three rappers right above and there’s no question about who has the meanest sneaker game. The proof is in the pudding: Wale‘s got on arguably the most coveted of pairs amongst the trio with recent atmos x Nike Air Max 1 release on feet. Kendrick Lamar goes with last weekend’s Air Jordan XI Low release and J.Cole sports an upcoming pair in the form of the Air Jordan V “Black Grape”. In a saturated landscape of celebrity hip-hop sneakerheads, Wale is on a tier far above the rest. Long before he became one of the stars of MMG, Wale was praised for his thorough sneaker stash and his apparent connection with some Nike folks as he wore several upcoming Nikes and Jordans long before a release (he’s a sample size 9, which helps). So while a Wale sneaker may not reach the levels of demand of an Air Yeezy, the DC-based rapper is one of a select few that would be able to pull off a sound sneaker concept that the public would be intrigued by because his own tastes in kicks hasn’t failed this far. What’s more is that Wale was featured in an official Jordan Brand look-book in 2010, so it’s clear that the Brand is open to working with the respected artist.
In this interesting find courtesy of TSG, Wale hints at a potential Jordan Brand connection in the future, spilling the beans as he was talking about his infamous Air Jordan III Retro ’88 mass-purchase not long ago and the AJ3 flyers that were made to promote his third album. Although the AJ3s he gave his inner circle were all purchased and customized on his own, he gives a “shout-out to Jordan Brand”, which may signify something a bit more official. Will we see a limited edition or Hyperstrike release of an Air Jordan Retro? Nothing’s confirmed at the moment, but Wale says something is in the works, so check out the video below (start at around the 10:00 minute mark) and give us your guesses as to what this potential Wale x Jordan Brand collaboration may entail.

It was inevitable that once JBF Customs first showed the world his “Incomparable” snakeskin customs that the celebrity set would come calling. Wale was his latest customer-the rapper commissioned a white-python reworking of the Air Jordan III ’88 for wear at this weekend’s Hot 97 Summer Jam XX show. The original elephant print stays in place while the rest of the shoe is turned to a zoo, from the python touches across the top to the lambskin innards. Wale proved once again why he’s at the top of the rapper/sneakerhead heap with the wear of this incredible pair of custom Jordans at Hot 97′s Summer Jam show. The shoe, a beautiful snakeskin rendition of the Air Jordan III, is the handiwork of one JBF Customs, a guy who has been at the forefront of all sorts of awesome snakeskin customs for a minute now. Shown are flyers that he had the MMG team whip up and pass out featuring his name superimposed onto an Air Jordan III “White/Cement” silhouette. That sneaker is particularly relevant to Wale as of late, following the stories of him apparently heading to Flight Club on an NYC trip and buying “Threes for the whole team”. The MMG rapper isn’t afraid to show it either, often showing off upcoming pairs before the public can get their hands on them or even going to lengths to defend his veteran “sneakerhead” status.
