The Big Apple’s own West NYC showed that they’re a force to be reckoned with in the sneaker collaboration game last year with their New Balance MT580 ‘Alpine Guide’ release. And they’re stepping up to the plate once again, this time taking on a silhouette from the likes of Saucony. The silo in question looks to be the Saucony Shadow 5000, a model that’s been touched on by Play Cloths and Solebox as of late. Drop us a line in the comments if you’re looking forward to this release and stay tuned to Sneaker News to find out what becomes of the West NYC x Saucony project.

Among the last minute surprises for this year’s Black Friday shopping extravaganza is a restock on one of 2012′s best New Balance collaborations.  Based on ’90s ski apparel, the West NYC x New Balance MT580 ‘Alpine Guide’ applied Grape-y accents to the most popular New Bal trail runner in premium grey suedes, and the rest of the story is told in resale prices after September’s quick sellout.  Raekwon won’t be on hand early Friday morning, but you can bet serious sneakerheads will still line up to get into the store promptly at 10am because they’re just too perfect to pass up, even amidst the cornucopia of fresh heat.

This weekend West NYC will officially join the short list of American shops to have cranked out a special pair of the New Balance MT580, a hiker sort of silhouette that has long had a bit more shine in the Asian markets. We can guarantee those days are pretty much over, with their ‘Alpine Guide’ edition very much meeting the bar set by the likes of Burn Rubber on the same silhouette. Last night the sneaker spot held an invite-only event at their Manhattan locale, with a select number of pairs available to purchase, a sick DJ set by Aaron LaCrate, and an awesome late night performance from Raekwon of Wu-Tang fame. Click through with us to get a photo recap of the West NYC x New Balance MT580 in-store and keep in mind that the public release will go down tomorrow, September 22nd, with a few more pairs available for phone order the following Monday. Also, check back with Sneaker News for word on which other spots will be carrying this awesome collab.

West NYC has long been one of America’s premier New Balance retailers, getting their hands on the full classics lineup including rare collaborations for which NB fanatics are typically left searching on the resale market.  West themselves can now contribute to the sneaker stock exchange as we approach the revelation of their collabo on a model with one of the highest guest-to-in-house designer ratios in sneaker history.  The West NYC x New Balance MT580 caused a blip on the radar back in July thanks to some teaser pics, and now we finally get a look at the main course. Dubbed the “Alpine Guide Edition”, West’s New Balance offering is inspired by store owner Lester Wasserman’s love of the outdoors and takes its color cues from 90′s alpine and ski apparel to give the MT580 a new spin on a rugged retro look. You can get a better look for yourself after the jump and get ready for the “Alpine Guide Edition” MT580 to arrive at West on Saturday, September 22nd.

Taking its name from the side of Manhattan’s 72nd Street where you’ll find sneakers ranging from Nike Sportswear mainstays (and even the Air Yeezy 2) to rare New Balance specialties, West NYC has made its name among the New York sneakerhead scene.  Now they get a chance to reach out to the world at large with a collaboration on the same silhouette that made household names out of brands ranging from Detroit’s Burn Rubber to Japan’s HECTIC.  The West x New Balance MT580 should be an interesting flavor with a chocolate mint chip colorup plus purple and pink branding, but you’ll have to check back with Sneaker News to see the full design once it’s revealed.  Let us know what you think of the color scheme and check back for more details including the release date.
