A boldly colored Insta Pump Fury with just a hint of radioactivity implied — are we looking at the latest addition to the Marvel Comics x Reebok collection? These aren’t a superhero-inspired design, but the Whiz Limited x Reebok Insta Pump Fury curated by Insta Pump regulars mita sneakers is every bit as eye-catching with this uniquely applied colorway. At its core, the grey, navy and red combo is the kind of thing we’ve seen from New Balance a hundred times, but this pair’s unique blocking and the careful selection of those aforementioned bright yellow hits gives this pair a feel all its own. Check them out in greater detail below and be ready when these arrive at AP retailers for fall 2012. via Kumastock

Japanese streetwear concern WHIZ LIMITED is a brand many US sneakerheads wouldn’t even know were it not for their New Balance collaborations, and after Whiz’ second NBs drop later this month, they’ll forever be linked with star cutouts. The WHIZ x mita x New Balance CM1700 will release at select AP retailers this Saturday, April 28th, but thanks to the glow-in-the-dark underlay that makes those cutouts into a reflection of the night sky, these are sure to have NB heads on this side of the planet jockeying for position on one of the few inevitable imports. Check out this unique asymmetrically colored design in greater detail after the jump and stick with Sneaker News to see if any American retailers get them in stock. Photos: EyesCream

Japanese streetwear designer Hiroaki Shitano’s Whiz Limited label is no stranger to New Balance collaborations, but this latest pair will most definitely help to reacquaint the market with what was once a long-lost silhouette. But with last summer’s Apricot and Violet pairs followed up by Beauty & Youth’s gorgeously simple collabo, the WHIZ LIMITED x mita sneakers x New Balance CM1700, this is a model with which todays’ New Bal fiends are rapidly reacclimating. Whiz’ take on this top-performing classic features their familiar star-toed motif, but its navy, white and red palette has these feeling more USA than CO.JP. A recent preview in Shoesmaster projects these as a late April release exclusively at mita and Lump in Tokyo, so click through to see more and let us know if you’ll make the effort to import a pair. via HB

New Balance is known as one of the leaders when it comes to collaborating with Japanese brands and issuing Asia-exclusive limited editions. This newest pack commemorates the Chinese tradition of celebrating the Lunar New Year, but interestingly enough, only one of the five guest designers is from China. The New Balance 574 ’Dragon Pack’ reminds us that not only are the zodiac animals on a 12-year cycle, but that they also rotate across the five ‘elements’. Japan’s mita sneakers and Whiz come through with the wood and fire looks, respectively, Taiwan’s Invincible goes for earth, Singapore’s Limited Edt handles the water, and China’s NPC completes the set with an iron-inspired colorway. Each pair carries enough details to make their photos worth far more words than we can fit here, so click through to see more angles and stick with Sneaker News for word on possible US availability. via Streething
