If you’ve had your eyes on our extensive coverage of the World Basketball Festival events going down in Washington, DC recently then you should know that the Jordan Super.Fly is a key player in the festivities. Along with a buildout promoting the all new Jordan Brand sneaker, a couple Olympic flavored pairs also popped up in the section of the Armory showing off which sneakers this year’s team would be rocking, suggesting we might see Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, and Maya Moore in them come time for the games. Along with that model there is a particular retro near and dear to the hearts of sneakerheads set to a part of this year’s Olympic rollout, the Air Jordan VII ‘Olympic’ which Michael Jordan wore during the incredible Dream Team run of 1992. Click through with us to get a look at both and let us know which of these patriotic models you’ll be picking up.

Yes folks, Jordan is hitting Washington DC this weekend. No His Airness isn’t stepping out onto the hardwood again in a Wizards jersey, but rather Jordan Brand will be making a stop there for the latest leg of the World Basketball Festival. And even if you’re not in the area there’s still reason to celebrate, as this duo of sneakers will be dropping on the weekend as well to commemorate the occasion. The Air Jordan 1 and Jordan Super.Fly RTTG ‘Washington DC’ both emulate the style of a decorated serviceman, paying homage to the many medals and badges that would strip ethe jacket of such a hero via the colorful sections towards the top. Click through with us to check out both pairs and be on the look out for these World Basketball Festival tie-ins tomorrow, July 14th, at your Jordan Brand accounts or a right now on eBay.

2012′s edition of the World Basketball Festival is living up to its name much more than in previous years. The 2010 event was confined just to NYC, whereas this year the festivities are sprawling out across the globe ahead of the 2012 Olympic Summer Games in London. Where and when exactly is all this going down? Well they already hit up London over the weekend with stars like Luol Deng and Scottie Pippen showing up in the heart of Brixton to show support. Next on the agenda is the July 12th stop in Paris, a leg that will feature youth clinics as well as appearances by the French national team. After that the USA’s squads will show off their skills in our nation’s capital of Washington DC beginning July 13th, along with clinics and meet and greets for local military families.
Particularly exciting on the sneaker side of things for the Washington DC event is the 20 Years of USA Basketball exhibition, presenting a look at 20 Swoosh silhouettes that have played a critical role in changing the game over the years. Perhaps the most historic spot of all will culminate the journey, as Barcelona will host the festival starting July 20th in a celebration of the Dream Team’s dominance two decades ago, with members of that legendary squad showing up to partake. Click through for some shots of USA Basketball stars Kobe Bryant, Tamika Catchings, Kevin Durant (wearing some patriotic KDIV’s we’ve not yet seen), and LeBron James doing their thing and let us know if you’re planning to make it out to this summer’s World Basketball Festival.

During the 2010 FIBA summer, Nike debuted its World Basketball Festival in New York, an event that included exhibitions between members of USA Basketball and concluded with an international doubleheader at Madison Square Garden. This summer, USAB will be too busy gearing up to defend its gold medal in London to compete at the 2012 Paris WBF, so the focus will shift to amateur competition in the city that also hosts Jordan Brand’s Quai 54 Streeball tournament each year.
In addition to a Nike Camp and ‘She Got Game’ girls tournament, the courts built at the Cite Universitaire Internationale will host a game between France captain Boris Diaw’s chosen squad and his teammate Tony Parker’s crew. Later, Diaw and TP will take to the court as the France vs. Spain matchup is shown on giant screens before the festival closes with a screening of the “Air Force 1: Anatomy of an Urban Legend” documentary. So even if you won’t see KD, LBJ and Kobe competing against the world’s best until the Olympics in August, the 2012 World Basketball Festival is shaping up to be a can’t-miss event, and you can see more details after the jump below.
