When you first heard about a new adidas pair sporting giraffe print across the upper, you may have pegged it as another Jeremy Scott creation-but that’s not the case. The XLARGE team from Japan is the culprit this time around, and the giraffe sections don’t totally dominate the pair in JS fashion, instead showing up just for the stripes, tongue, and back tab of this adidas Originals Superstar 80s joint. These are set to hit retailers on May 15th, but you can secure your size now thanks to this pre-order from Packer Shoes.

Remember last year when Japanese streetwear label XLARGE outfitted the adidas Originals Campus 80s with a combination of jet black suede and leopard printed pony hair? A sequel of sorts is in order, as the team is this time throwing a similar look onto the adidas Originals Superstar 80s. Only this time they grab at one of the under utilized prints from the animal kingdom with the giraffe look here. If Japanese streetwear giants XLarge had to declare a favorite sneaker, wouldn’t it have to be a pair of Reebok Pumps? We’ve seen the brand and its XGirl ladies subdivision crank out a variety of classic RBKs in recent years, the Reebok Insta Pump Fury a prime example of how they can apply new twists to old favorites. This new model slated to drop on Black Friday features the kind of colorway you might expect from a womens release, though its purple and pink accents are made more masculine thanks to a healty portion of black on the overlay in addition to earthy browns on the heels and toes. Sneaker News just showed you the adidas Originals B-Sides Collection, and among them, UK-based boutique Foot Patrol’s Campus 80s lowtops. The above pictured release isn’t formally a part of this ‘remix’ collection, but they are also a collabo of the subtlest kind. As with the Foot Patrol edition, this new X-Large x adidas Originals Campus 80s features no obvious branding to indicate the tag-team effort, and this one takes it even further, eschewing a logo on the insole in favor of a curious banana pattern. Perhaps they’re food for the brand’s mascot, but in any case, these just became available at the adidas flagship in Berlin. via HS
