The Air Jordan 1 ‘Banned’ has uplifted the sneaker community with its unique release, pumping a much-needed energy back to the Air Jordan 1 – a shoe that has been overlooked due to countless other retro releases and rumors. The Air Jordan 1 ‘Banned’ brought the entire sneaker community back to the beginning, and with such a quirky release, it was certainly one of the more interesting sneaker stories in an era mired in predictable cycles of previews and releases. Here’s a look at the original Air Jordan 1 that was banned by the league; notice there is no insignia on the heel whatsoever (the ‘Banned’ version featured a red ‘X’ cloaking a Jumpman logo), but the distressed leather used in the 2011 version is a great attempt at recreating the ‘vintage’ appeal clearly displayed by this OG. For more info, check out the auction by chami2112 on eBay and if you haven’t picked up a pair of the ‘Banned’ Air Jordan 1, they’re available right now on eBay.
