A Visual History of Converse

Visual History Of Converse 1

There aren’t too many sneaker brands lodged in the American conscious the way that Converse is. A few quick numbers to prove their ubiquity: more than 550 million pairs have been produced since 1917 and, as of 2012, 60% of all Americans own or have owned a pair in their life. Encapsulating these factoids and a few more important milestones in the All-Star Brand’s history (including the most expensive pair they’ve ever made, those from the Missoni collection to the surprises of no-one) is this visual history, a chart plotting out their rise since they began peddling sneakers in 1908. Hit the jump with us to see the infographic in its entirety and let us know in the comments if you feel like Converse is at this point the quintessential American sneaker company.
