The Air Jordan XX8 was the unparalleled highlight at the Jordan Brand media event, but there was another set of sneakers also drawing the attention of every sneaker minded media person present: the Air Jordan ‘Black’ collection. The pristine set-up included Air Jordan models 1-2012, each done in “murdered out” all-black style (a natural extension of the Air Jordan XI ‘Blackout’ that we’ve seen previously). We’ve seen plenty of Air Jordan Legacy Collections done in uniform style – the ‘Georgetown’ set and the White/Red ‘History of Flight’, but the story behind this ‘Black’ set ties in perfectly with the event.
An empty space was left open next to the Air Jordan 2012 – clearly a spot for the soon to be unveiled Air Jordan XX8 – for the next of kin in the most respected signature sneaker line in history. The theme of the XX8 is the Stealth fighter jet, which makes the tonal-black arrangement of Air Jordan 1 through last year’s 2012 the perfect platform to showcase the extension of the Air Jordan legacy.
