1993 Nike Basketball Vintage Comic Book Ad

The recently unveiled Nike Basketball Elite 2.0 Collection presented LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Kevin Durant as three valiant superheros of the NBA, but this idea actually goes back – way back – twenty years ago to 1993. These vintage print-ads from 1993, created to showcase the heroic advantages of Nike’s basketball shoes, placed a spotlight on the brand’s most advanced athletes like Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Scottie Pippen, David Robinson, Alonzo Mourning, and Tim Hardaway, with each player sporting a different model of the now-vintage catalog.

In this incredible set of vintage prints is the Air Jordan VIII, Air Force High ’93, Air Force Mid ’93, Air Force Max, Air Dynamic Flight, and Air Bound – all worn by the six athletes presented in this choice ad campaign. Clearly Nike has advanced its technology and artistry when we compare it to the Elite 2.0 Collection, but Nike Basketball ideals haven’t changed a bit. All about performance and specifications to the athlete. Check out the ads below.
