Every major sneaker brand has at least a few timeless silhouettes that have managed to achieve classic status and remain in circulation year in and year out. And while we all love to see them in their original form, companies constantly need to explore new ways to keep them fresh and evolving. Traditionally, this has been done through different colorway and material iterations, but in recent years, it has become more and more commonplace to tweak and even reinvent the actual design of a shoe to create an interesting new twist on an old familiar favorite.

Most times as of late, this is done by equipping a classic silhouette with the latest performance innovations for a futuristic makeover, but it can also swing back the other way by looking to the past. In the case of the Reebok Classics FVS (Franchise 5 Vulc Series) collection, a variety of iconic ’80s models ditch their chunky 2-piece molded midsoles for clean vulcanized bottoms and a simplified aesthetic that fits like a glove.

Reebok’s FVS series officially debuted in the last week of 2013 by way of Palace Skateboards’ second collaboration pack. After including two standard Workouts in their warmly-received first collection back in July, they introduced the even more skate-friendly vulc-bottom FVS version with a quartet of enticing tonal colorways. Now hot on the heels of the Palace project comes Reebok’s inline kickoff with the White Pack, featuring four classic white make-ups with vintaged soles and brass accents on the branding.

Made up of four of Reebok’s “Franchise 5” models, the White Pack makes use of the super-clean white leather uppers these models are best known for, and then leans on the vintage discoloration on the soles to make the transition seem like a natural marriage that has always existed rather than a revamped version for 2014. All four models will be hitting Reebok retailers this month, so continue on for a better look and keep an eye out for more FVS offerings to arrive over the course of the year.
