Nobody outside of the Yeezy and adidas camp will truly know the fine print details of their partnership, but it appears that there’s some sort of clause that grants permission to the highly paid designer/endorser to wear skate-brand Vans. Kanye West recently attracted the Twitter spotlight with his tweets from within the studio while wearing a pair of Half Cabs, but he’s been spotted on other recent occasions wearing various other skate silhouettes like the Vans Sk8-Hi by WTAPS and a pair of two-toned Slip-ons. So, what gives? This almost never occurs in the world of paid sneaker partnerships, unless there is in fact a loophole in his contract that lets him wear anything but Nike. However, adidas and Vans aren’t exactly direct competitors, despite the German brand having its own Skateboarding division, and other key signature athletes freely wear other footwear brands. Get a look at Kanye’s recent wears below and let us know if you think it’s odd for him to persistently wear a different shoe brand.
