It’s been said many a time that imitation is the highest form of flattery. The Jordan Max Aura is certainly trying its hardest to flatter the Jordan 11—specifically this year’s “Cap & Gown” version—with this new triple black colorway. Jordan Brand has always had a propensity to draw inspiration from their iconic retro line for the designs of their in-line team models like the True Flight or the SC-3. However the Max Aura may be the most obvious example of this yet: the throat, lacing system, and even the neoprene heel hit are all taken directly from the 11. It’s not just the Jordan 11 that appears here though: the Max Aura draws from the Jordan 10 as well, also featuring elastic midfoot bands. The blacked-out shoe is completed by a heel Air Max unit, and a herringbone-patterned outsole offers traction. If you’re a fan of this doppelgänger-style silhouette, they’re available now at Foot Locker for $120-less than half the price of the “Cap & Gown” 11s.
