Although originally released—and still widely used—as a performance running silhouette, the wildly popular Nike Free line has taken on a whole new life as go-to casual shoes, beloved the world over for their lightweight comfort and extreme flexibility. Of course, the Swoosh Brand is aware of this alternate use. Over the past few years they’ve been releasing several lifestyle-geared Free sneakers, the latest of which is the new Commuter 2018. The flexible Free outsole and midsole—unchanged from the performance iterations—are done up in a light cream, while the upper features a combination of university red and black. The toebox arrives in black with a white embroidered Nike text hit on the lateral side, the midfoot is dressed in university red and features an interesting sock-like construction with a high tongue/toggle lacing system, and the heel arrives in black with red lateral/medial Swooshes and a small reflective hit on the heel tab. These new urban commute-ready Frees are available now on Nike.com for $120 USD.
