During the early days of Nike SB in the early-mid ’00s, most releases were word-of-mouth. You had to know someone who knew someone, frequent your local skate shop on a weekly basis, or be tuned in to message boards to stay up-to-date on what was dropping when. A plethora of new colorways and styles were available — if not always easily discoverable — from Supreme iterations to collaborations with skaters themselves, and a cult-favorite skater collab was 2003’s “Takashi” Dunks that featured a stately black/gold color combo, and were created in collaboration with pro skater Takashi Hosokawa.

Now 15 years later, Nike is bringing back the SB Dunk Low in a very similar black and gold colorway — and although it’s highly unlikely that this is an “official” retro, it’s good news for old-school SB lovers nonetheless. The upper is dressed in a combo of black leather and nubuck, while bold gold accents arrive on the swoosh and tongue. A white midsole offers contrast, and the look is then completed with a simple black outsole. These clean and classic Dunks are available now at Nike.com and the select Swoosh Brand stockists listed below.
