Upcoming Nike Air Max 97 Inspired By Shipping Boxes

Upcoming Nike Air Max 97 Inspired By Shipping Boxes

As one of the Swoosh Brand’s most classic sportswear models, the Air Max 97 is an integral part of NSW lifestyle offerings each and every season. Typically it opts for retro color palates or a tonal look, but every so often a unique take on Christian Tresser’s bullet train-inspired masterpiece appears — and this caramel colored pair complete with interesting embellishments is certainly that. Upon initial observation, the shoe may appear to be little more than a clean fall-styled colorway. However, upon closer inspection it’s revealed to be much more than that. With a large barcode — the type usually used for Nike’s online orders — appearing under the translucent outsole, the shoe may very well be a physical manifestation of a shipping box. Multiple brown and tan cardboard tones appear on the upper, while dark brown detailing arrives on both the small midfoot Swoosh and the top two stripes. The tongue also features a special white and silver striped pull tab, a possible nod to the two-tone tape Nike packages their online orders with. A clean white midsole and gum Air Max complete the color combo, and a stamped “Box Certificate, Memphis TN” hit nodding to the location of Nike’s main shipping warehouse adorns the insole. A release date for these special AM97s has not been announced yet — but you can look for them to start shipping on Nike.com this Fall. Enjoy a set of official images below while you wait, and let us know what you think about the freight-inspired footwear as well.
