They’re two different spots with completely different rules, but basketball and tennis have a lot more in common than one might immediately think. Both games have nets, bounds, and balls, and hoops can very much be a one-on-one sport as it is a team sport. But the mechanics of the game are quite similar; sharp cuts, bursts of speed, and timing are all keys to success in both games, and Nike is putting a face to that overlap with a line of footwear that blends current innovations in tennis with classic basketball shoes. Today, Nike releases the Zoom Vapor x Glove, a silhouette that feature a signature exterior shroud with Monkey Paw technology from Gary Payton’s late-1990s signature shoes. The vintage-style branding on the medial wall is a bit more Son Of Glove than Zoom Flight Glove, but overall the execution is rather spot on.

There’s a lot more to this experiment as well; a Vapor X Foamposite is also in the works, while more colorways of the Vapor X Kyrie, which debuted earlier this year, is also confirmed for Fall.
