Created in 1972, Nike’s Sunburst logo originally adorned team apparel, as its circular design allowed for club/organization/squad names to be arched in an aesthetically pleasing fashion that was standard for the time. Now it’s taking on a new purpose in 2019, as it’s set to provide inspiration for fresh takes on the Air Force 1, Air Max 97, Air Max Plus, and React Element 55. Drawing on both the Sunburst’s inherently athletic style and sporty white, yellow, red, and orange color scheme, the pack presents each of its four components in an undeniably compelling manner. The Air Force 1 features a mix of mesh and leather panels both colorful and stark, while placing an extra logo on the lateral forefoot and equipping multi-color detailing on the midsole’s Air hit. The Air Max 97 offers what’s arguably the most colorful scheme of the bunch, using each of the sunburst logo’s colors on its layered upper and also equipping the logo itself front and center on the lateral underlay. The Air Max Plus uses red more heavily than the pack’s other silhouettes, providing a vivid base with a large logo and special detailing on each eyestay. Finally, the React Element 55 keeps everything ultra-breezy with a futuristic mesh and synthetic construction that’s accented by a plentiful helping of vivid details. This quintessential quartet of Nike shoes is set to hit each store in the greater Foot Locker, Inc family on August 31st, so check out images and a buying guide below while you await their arrival.
