Michael Le Virgil Abloh’s obsession with athletics has never been more present than with his more recent Nike collaborations — Dunks aside — even pushing this same sort of design approach with his own Off-White activewear. Bringing it to Swoosh-marked tables once again, the Louis Vuitton artistic director is adding a sequel to a the “Athlete in Progress” series started with the Terra Kiger 5s released months ago. Most, if not all, accents are essentially translated over, guising the constructions of the brand’s Vapor Street silhouette. Bulbous sole units as well as the general shape of its upper, however, are left relatively true to form though they deviate drastically by a punk level track spikes and an overlaid translucent film, respectively. The latter, which is certainly the least apparent, covers base layers of either a black, baby blue, or yellow, sprawling atop a second set of laces in vibrant neon tones. Typical font placements at the medial add the designer’s denotative signature while largely composing a true-to-form kit based on running staples. Below, the walls of three distinct neutrals lead down to the most performance-geared modification that bear strong compliment to the rest of their specific palettes.
