The Nike Air Tailwind ’79 Returns In Two Clean Monochromatic Options

The Nike Air Tailwind ’79 Returns In Two Clean Monochromatic Options

Introduced to the world during the Honolulu Marathon in 1978, the Nike Air Tailwind has mostly lived in the archives until being properly retroed in 2012. Although its once-revolutionary cushioning has taken a backseat to Air Max, the ’79 silhouette is still being paid its well-deserved respects via both original and new colorways like these two tonal options. Sitting atop a black waffle outsole/white midsole combo, either “Fossil” or “Black” completely takes over the retro runner’s uppers – from leather mudguards and heel panels to mesh overlays. The only contrasting detail on both pairs comes via the vintage red Nike branding at the foam tongue and heel.

If you’re interested in seeing what life before Air Max or React cushioning was like, both these Tailwind ’79s are available now on Nike.com for $100 USD.
