The Nike Air Force 1’s Tribute To Banned NBA Accessories Continues With White And Gum

The Nike Air Force 1’s Tribute To Banned NBA Accessories Continues With White And Gum

Instead of simply dressing up the Air Force 1 in a team-inspired color scheme, the NBA and Nike are taking a different angle for their next collection of Air Force 1s. This time around they’re delving into the league’s rule book and nodding to that of the once-banned accessories for players on-court.

Using the AF1 Low as their canvas, the two entities alter the Swooshes with silver semi-circle metal-plates — a deviation from the gold plates seen on previous iterations — to translate the idea that hoopers aren’t allowed to rock jewelry, and reverse the throat’s NBA logos to showcase how ballers would once wear their headbands upside down. Furthermore, they attach lateral heel overlays and extra rectangle panels atop the heels to express the essence of shooting sleeves and kinesiology tape that are once again allowed in today’s modern-day game. Color-wise, this newest take is executed with angelic uppers, crimson red trim, and gum bottoms. Be on the lookout for these hoops-inspired kicks to release on Nike.com and select retailers in the coming weeks, and check out further imagery here below.
