In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, several brands and organizations have conjured up creative ways to alleviate financial burdens from those most distraught by the crisis. Foot Locker, Inc. and Converse are joining the mix with their Collaboraid Collection, which includes creators the likes of A$AP Ferg, Just Don, and Sophia Chang. For this effort, both companies have tapped Anderson Bluu to add his own spin to the Chuck Taylor All Star.
Currently based in Long Island, New York, the self-taught graphic artist has previously worked with Foot Locker. In 2019, Bluu turned an ASICS GEL-Lyte III duo into a G.I. JOE collectible. For his next endeavor, the Bluu Dreams founder is bringing his concept-driven approach to the original basketball sneaker. White canvas sets the stage for the lemon graphics running along the sneaker’s profiles; green laces further animate the pair, just as old-school “LEMONADE” labels on the tongue do. Medial sides trade Chuck Taylor’s signature with more green and yellow flair reading “THE SWEETEST SHOES ON EARTH” around a glass of lemonade. A tri-colored sole unit rounds out the pair, which arrives in produce-like netting.
“These sneakers are inspired by youthful summer days,” said Bluu. “[They’re] designed to remember the many lemonade stands I built to fund my love for sneakers, [as well as] family BBQs.”
The Chuck Taylor All Star “Lemonade” by Bluu arrives to FootLocker.com on September 16th – only 200 pairs will be available. As part of the Collaboraid Collection’s mission, Foot Locker, Inc. will donate $1.5 million USD worth of footwear to global youth communities impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Elsewhere under the NIKE, Inc. umbrella, more iterations of the forthcoming Air Jordan 35 continue to surface.
