Nike Goes Full ZoomX Cushioning With The Invincible Run

Nike Running has hit a stride with ZoomX cushioning, with many of the brand’s most enthralling and well-performing runners supported by this responsive cushioning. We’ve seen it utilized as a pivotable component on a number of top tier product as as the AlphaFly NEXT% and VaporFly NEXT%, providing the softer footbed beneath a spring plate and above Zoom cushioning pods. But for the upcoming ZoomX Invincible Run, Nike is simplifying the formula with a one-piece ZoomX cushion without a carrier.

ZoomX foam is definitely softer than React, and there’s more foam volume in the Invincible Run than in the Infinity React Run 2. Clearly there are two distinct approaches, so the Invincible Run is better suited for longer distance as it is more responsive and provides more energy return. And considering there is no break in the midsole, the ZoomX should be pliable enough to allow for flexion at the forefoot where needed.

Nike also uses the same heel-to-toe rocker construction principle, so that sensation of forward propulsion will certainly persist in this model. The wider base at the heel should provide some added stability as well.

A global release date has been confirmed for January 7th, 2021 with a variety of colorways likely to be available through the winter/spring months.
