Chinatown Market And Converse Honor The LA Lakers And Chicago Bulls With Champion Jacket Inspired Capsule

After a brief time apart, Chinatown Market and Converse are linking back up this year. Just days away from All-Star Weekend, the two have announced an NBA-inspired collaboration, one that sees four different pairs clad in some iconic team colors. The Pro Leather and Chuck 70 are the vehicles for said expression. Together, in two sets of two, the silhouettes celebrate the teams in question: the Chicago Bulls and the LA Lakers.

The latter effectively leads the pack in its more vibrant color, with the Erving-approved flagship dealing a colorway heavily influenced by the famous Championship three-peat. Bearing the design language of the sport’s iconic Jeff Hamilton jackets, the upper sees many a vibrant patch. Palm trees hit the heel in leafy greens, Lakers insignia dress the forefoot, collar, and the like, while “Chinatown Market” brands the natural leather heel tab. Elsewhere, tones of purple, aqua blue, and gold outfit underneath, complementing the Chuck 70 adjacent whose side profile shrouds the LA cityscape in shadows.

The Bulls’ take on the Pro Leather is far more subdued as their classic red sees a more burgundy-like pigmenting. Elsewhere, laces of saturated blue hit the side Chevron and laces, pairing well with the green accents that cross the tongue as well as the forefoot. “Chicago” is spelled out on the black toe, the city is also printed onto the heel, and “3-in-a-row” embroidery celebrates the Chicago legend’s own three-peat. The Chuck 70 fashions similarly, though it adds far bolder and larger appliques to its upper.
