Mayumi Yamase Helps Brings The Latest Nike Flyleather Collection To Market With Whimsical Paint Markings

Mayumi Yamase Helps Brings The Latest Nike Flyleather Collection To Market With Whimsical Paint Markings

First launched in 2017, Nike Flyleather has been predominantly reserved for special projects. Case in point: A two-pair capsule with Tokyo-based artist Mayumi Yamase.

Featuring the Nike Air Force 1 and Nike Blazer Low, the forthcoming collection favors a simple off-white palette. Yet, Yamase animates each pair’s upper with a whimsical treatment, adding earthy pastels to the profile swooshes, tongue labels and heel. As with previous releases indulging in the Swoosh’s Flyleather proposition, both sneakers’ uppers are constructed from at least 50% recycled leather fibers, inching the North American brand closer to its “Move to Zero” sustainability mission. Although the low-top Blazer and low-top Air Force 1 don much of the same design details, the latter differentiates itself with a semi-translucent gum sole unit sure to find immense fanfare.

Enjoy imagery of Yamase’s Nike Flyleather collection here below, and anticipate a launch on Nike SNKRS come May 19th.
