Since 2009, the Nike N7 Fund has awarded more than $7.5 million in grants to 259 communities and organizations striving and working towards the betterment of Indigenous Peoples across the United States of America. In addition to financial support, the charitable cohort has brought awareness about these communities to the mainstream, with lasting representation being the focal point of its Summer 2021 collection.

With the assistance of Lyle Thompson, Kyrie Irving and Lauren Schad, the Swoosh has crafted a Nike Dunk Low, Kyrie Low 4 and Air Zoom Type channeling the backgrounds of each individual athlete. Personal design touches on all three Nike Sportswear and Basketball propositions connect the shoes to their respective muses, but also the larger Aboriginal communities from which these professional athletes come. The colors of the Lakota medicine wheel, star quilt and wampum shell land across the N7 Fund’s latest footwear lineup. Thompson, Irving and Schad understand that they represent something bigger than themselves, and they hope wearers of their shoes feel connected to the resiliency and history of communities like the Cheyenne River Lakota Nation and Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.
