NIKE, Inc.’s Jordan Brand is a performance basketball subsidiary that has found unprecedented success in the lifestyle footwear space. Although various highly-anticipated Jordan release dates mark opportunities for countless collectors to secure sneakers that’ll never touch a hardwood court, they also signal chances for athletes to re-up on old models or check out the latest and greatest that hoops-informed design has to offer. On the former note, the Jordan Pro Strong is set to return in a classic white and red colorway.
Having debuted in 1998, the model took after the Air Jordan 13 and offered “bigs” a durable high-top option. A mix of smooth and tumbled leather make up much of the upper, with the latter appearing as isolated overlays across the profiles. Midsole detailing doesn’t exactly take after a black panther’s paw, but delivers a textured and rugged arrangement that features an “S” at the rear (presumably short for “Strong”). Collars and ankle areas aren’t as cushioned as modern-day propositions from the Swoosh conglomerate like the Nike Air Zoom BB NXT, but they were sufficient in their comfort capacities. Underfoot, the outsole indulges in segmented herringbone patterns that still seem forward-thinking 23 years after their initial launch.
An official Nike.com release date is unknown, but this Jordan sneaker is likely to launch during summer. While you wait, enjoy images of the pair ahead.
Elsewhere under the Jumpman umbrella, the Jordan 7 “Flint” returns in May.
