Michael Le As eyes shifted from the big screen to the small, the entire advertising/marketing landscape changed dramatically. Televised commercials and billboards lost quite a bit of their purpose, and now many companies are putting dollars into unconventional means. Here, we’re seeing one of the most unique examples of this: a Coca-Cola sponsored ASICS GEL-Quantum 90.
Though an odd pairing at first mention, the collaboration is not as showy as many adverts are. Rather, the runner simply pays homage to the beverage itself, using both signature logos and colors. The knit base is threaded with bright reds like the overlays both along the side and heel. White midsoles complement immediately below, bearing Gel Cushioning that tinges green in nod to vintage cups and bottles. To finish off the design, “Coca-Cola” is written atop the side logos as well as the heel tab in much lighter font; a tiny, silhouetted bottle also dresses the lace stay.
