Jovani Hernandez Nike’s Air Max Day began in 2014 to celebrate the revolutionary technology’s 27th century. As 2022’s iteration inches closer, the brand has unveiled three headlining releases, which include the North America-exclusive Air Max 1 “Blueprint.”
Unveiled alongside pairs inspired by the Japanese ideology of wabi-sabi and Paris, the “Blueprint” proposition takes a playful approach to commemorating Tinker Hatfield’s original Air Max as the foundation for so much that’s transpired in footwear over the last 35 years. Breathable mesh comes together with high-quality leather throughout the upper, with the latter material favoring a light blue tone that delivers a play on the Air Max 1’s moniker. Profile swooshes and labels on the top of the tongue boast grid patterns that also reference blueprint schematics, while the heel features a globe that speaks to the design’s global appeal. Lastly, the sneaker’s anatomy is printed onto the sock-liners, along with a message: “Created for the Future of Sport.”
