Jared Ebanks PUMA Basketball is no stranger to unexpected collaborations, teaming up with pop-culture icons like Rick & Morty and Dexter’s Laboratory for effective co-branded installments alongside LaMelo Ball’s signature line. Come this holiday season, the historic banner will be recruiting the mischievous Gremlins for their own take on the PUMA All-Pro NITRO.
Achieving a mismatched aesthetic, the low-top nitrogen-infused silhouette splits the left and right shoes between the likeness of Gizmo and Stripe. The left indulges in the movie’s main antagonist with a deep olive green hue mixing with subtle brown accents throughout. In contrast, the right foot pairs Gizmo’s splotchy brown coat across the textile upper. Furry white detailing on the tongue reminisces on the texture of a Mogwai while capturing the essence of 80s nostalgia. At the heel, both pairs are stamped with the face of each character while a vibrant cream outsole composes a singular through-line underfoot.
Housed within a special bright green box bearing breathable holes and “HANDLE WITH CARE” labels, the silhouette’s remaining connections to the 1984 film render the three essential rules for handling all Gremlins listed in a checklist graphic along the tongue tabs.
