The league’s most promising first- and second-year players got together to participate in the 2012 BBVA Rising Stars Challenge that featured a mixed-and-matched team drafted by makeshift GMs Shaquille O’neal and Charles Barkley. Team Chuck took the win at the end with Cleveland Cavs rookie phenom Kyrie Irving taking home the MVP honors. Of course, we had our eyes glued to their feet, and the Rising Stars Challenge certainly did not disappoint; among the key sightings were there Hyperfuse Low iD for Jeremy Lin, Landry Fields and his Zoom Kobe VII PE, John Wall’s Zig Encore PE, Norris Cole’s LeBron 9 PE, and Blake Griffin’s scorching red Hyperdunk 2011s. The Rising Stars Challenge served as a platform for other brands who don’t get much notice, like Kemba Walker’s Under Armour Micro G Bloodline and Evan Turner’s Li-Ning Turningpoint ‘Year Of The Dragon’ PE.
