In 1993, Steven Spielberg put out the blockbuster Jurassic Park featuring a theme park with cloned dinosaurs which at the time was still a pretty radical idea. The same year, Nike put out a cross-training sneaker call the Nike Air Carnivore which may have potentially been inspired by the film. The promotional material for the sneaker calls out “Survival of the Finest”, and recently at the recent Nike Training Summit, a large info graphic calls out the shoe as “Jurassic Spark”. With its name and extreme design, even for today, the sneaker seems to suggest that the athlete wearing the sneaker can overcome and devour its opponents. The sneaker has had a cult following since its initial release and many have begged for its return. Well, good news, the Nike Air Carnivore is finally being Retroed for the first time during the Summer of 2010. For the time being, Nike has two colorways up its sleeves including the OG Green, Purple and Black colorway and a White, Black and Red colorway. Via NT

I remember getting these the day they landed at Footlocker in 1993. They were amazingly soft and looked so far ahead of their time but the newbuck material wore off the upper. Great to see them back!!!

I had heard that they were gonig to bring these back awhile back but I’m so SO happy to know that they are coming back….all they have to do now is retro the basketball version Webber wore and I’ll be ecstatic!

Yeah i definately gonna get these. I had these in high school and they were my ballin shoes i use to dunk on foos with. They better come out with the all black and purple too. Both colorways will be on my feet. They need to retro them David Robinsons too that looked like this the Air Unlimited.

There is no reason to retro these what so ever. Just because something is super old doesn’t mean it needs to be brought back out, but oh well….. fuck it, i’ll catch’em at the Nike Factory Outlet for the low numbers
