It’s not as sensationalistic as some of the threads that dominated sports media over the last week-plus, but several Dallas Mavericks finally reaching the professional peak might be the best one. Dirk Nowitzki has gone from ‘just’ a Hall of Famer to a top-25 (top 10?) guy, Jason Kidd’s sustained brilliance will now be viewed through a more favorable lens and Jason Terry can now be mentioned alongside the great championship role players. And as brilliant as those three were, they owe a big piece of their championship rings (or bracelets, or whatever) to Shawn Marion. The Matrix also saw his career stock surge beyond the naysayers, his impressive performance in defending LeBron James while wearing the Nike Air Shox Hyperballer a key part of the Mavs comeback Finals win.
