Nike Air Force 180 High – 2012 Retro

It came as something of a surprise given all the attention lavished on Penny Hardaway retros and hybrids in recent months, but judging from the comments on our preview of Nike Sportswear’s Holiday 2012 basketball offerings, Sneaker News readers are just as excited for the return of The Admiral as more Lil Penny. David Robinson’s Nike Air Force 180 High from 1991 reminds us of the ad where Moses Malone is said to gift them to Mr. Robinson for the latter’s birthday, though these retro releases will come without the original pressure fit system as we suspected from yesterday’s images. Instead, we’ll get the OG colorup in what figures to be a much more affordable form, along with the new black edition pictured above that manages a strong throwback vibe thanks to intermingling purple and pink accents. I only hope the build of these shoes are better than the Air Force 180's that were released a couple of years ago, not sure I could even class those as Nikes. Shame about the lack of the air collar on these but they do look good, hopefully they'll release the OG royal marine and magenta colourway too.
I remember rocking these in high school, copped for $100 at the Beverly Center Footlocker when visiting my cousin Di in Burbank. I remember all the Spurs haters there in Laker land and these were just sitting there during the whole summer. If only I would have known. Now all you youngsters can see what REAL high tops look like, not those AF1 Mid's that you rookies think are high tops...let the HYPE begin!!!

IDKW wut to think bout these. The black is fire even without the aor pump unit. The white isn"t so much they better get back in the lab and fix this Bs though way to ruin a classic.

They left the pump system out to streamline the shoe so it wouldn't look as bulky as the '90s spaceboot. They really dropped the ball. The only people who will want these are the ones who grew up with it, so it really didn't need to be reworked to appeal to younger people. Now they just turned off 50% of the people who would have bought the shoe. Great job.

Didn't Reebok's legal action force Nike to take the pump from this white 180? Back in my junior high days, long ago, i had that white 180 with the pump. I think I had them about a month before they ripped out, and foot locker defected them out for a pair of black/Infared VIs. Man, the memories. Those were the days. You could always find the shoe you wanted back then; stores always had stock too. No such thing as camping out in the early 90s. The good ol' days
I remember the pump coming out of a lot of folks kicks back then. The ankle would wear down real bad. As far as pumps are concerned The LA Gear Regulators were the worst, the tongue would just explode if you over did it. Lol.
I love the idea of having these but something about not having the pump KILLS this for me. That was the point of people begging for this shoe to come back IMO. If we are paying 200+ for kicks now how could the pump not be done? Unless there was a copy write or something on the technology that they cannot bypass because Gentry knows better then this.
These are def more exciting then the foam galaxy's ... anyday!!!. Especially if yr a real sneakerhead. Copping both ... white ones x 2-3 times!!!.

Oh my motherfucking god! Not in my boldest dreams did I expect a comeback of these, even if it's without the pump system. I was 14 years old in 91 so no way I could afford them. Can't wait!
