Up to this point the Nike LeBron 9 P.S. Elite ‘Varsity Maize’ has been sort of the odd man out as far as colorways go for the Nike LeBron 9 Elite, with no apparent connection along the same story line of the regal gold versions and the revisit to the ‘South Beach’ theme. Our recent exclusive sit down with Nike Basketball designers Jason Petrie and Leo Chang did help to shed some light on the black and yellow pairing however, intended as a re-imagining of the traditional Miami Heat color combos. I really like the huarache construction implemented in the sneaker. These I feel would need full length zoom for $250 Although, I really am not a fan of this colorway. To me it's way too bright.
they do have full zoom bag wit addition to.da 180 in da back heel

Here's the new rule for Lebron 9 posts: if you are going to cry about the price, or cry about the hype, or cry about resellers, then you are not allowed to post on them. We need to weed out these phonies who can't cop, and just come on here to bash these amazing elites.

I wonder how much blame should we place on Lebron. KD made a decision to keep his shoes affordable and I have to believe Lebron could've made that same decision. It is still our decision as consumers to buy and the loudest statement consumers could ever make is not with their mouths but with their wallets. Interesting to see how this influences the immediate and long-term prices of shoes.

I'm blessed that i have a job in these rough economic times at champs so i don't have to pay the extremely overpriced $250 and I'm sorry to those who do bc thats absolutely ridiculous but to each his own maybe those of u who r spending the $250 don't mind. best of luck to all who want a pair and God bless u all in these times!

This is how it all begins. They put the 'Elite' moniker in the name and add higher quality materials in the shoe. We complain about the price, but feel that there's some kind of justification because of the materials and the edition. We don't mind the price though, because after all, its just a special edition right? The shoe sells out. They release Elites next year, but because we're now accustomed to the significance and the backstory behind the shoes, there's no need to wait until the playoffs to begin selling them. So they sell the a couple weeks before the playoffs next year. The year after that, maybe a month before. And there not just black/gold colorways either; like the shoes above, their all kinds of colors with no particular significance. After all, why not sell a shoe thats $250 if they'll sell out? Thanks to the advent of resellers, retro packs and comfort kits, the high prices won't receive the same cultural backlash that occurred after the release of the Jordan 17s. Thanks to the twitter releases, no lines outside of stores and public vandalism that causes Nike to issue apologetic statements or be looked at with disdain by other corporations. The high price of sneakers is no longer a cultural issue. Nike has no competition in casual basketball sneaker platform, so they have no incentive to keep prices down. We'll keep buying them. We're all fools. Eventually Elite lines will be sold along side the regular editions of new shoes. Eventually, there we'll see 'Elite' just as normal as 'low' or 'mid' sneakers. And eventually, the materials in a regular Lebron, Durant, Kobe etc shoe will become the materials of a sub-$110 shoe, and the materials of the Elites will become the materials of the regular editions of these shoes. And we'll keep buying them because we are fools. But don't blame Nike or Jordan. Blame Adidas and Reebok for not challenging the market.
Everything, no matter what it is, costs $. And, variety is what drives collectors and innovation. With that being said. Fools? No. Sneaker heads! Sneaker heads are collectors. Just like someone that collects cars or watches or whatever. Rolex has a limited edition Submariner. Costs about 9k. Is there 9k worth of materials in it? No. But people that like Rolex will pay so their collection will grow. Does that make them fools? No. Not into watches. Ok. Think about women. They all have the same basic equipment, but taking out a fine girl will always cost you more than a basic chick. Elite's cost more b/c they're worth it! We'll pay b/c kicks are what we are into. But fools? Definitely NOT!

But da elites are off chain.. i bought da white pair & i really like these also. And they drop da same day as da 4s. man i work at footaction, and believe me when i tell you.. those BLACK ELITE JOINTS did NOT sell out at all... i think out of our 15, 20 stock we received, we ONLY sold TWO in all... ppl are seriously like F U C K paying 250 dollars. and i dont blame em. thats basically rent money lol

10 dollars, no way. Kevlar and carbon fiber are expensive. Don't forget the tech that went into the pro combat material. 250.oo worth? No way. But more than 10 for sure.
