Vans mastered the chukka sneaker like no other brand, owing both to the fact that they’ve been making them longer, and that the extra time has allowed them to experiment with more new styles than anyone else. The brand new Vans Mesa Moc pictured above comes from the California Collection with a style that came from even further west. So far west, in fact, it’s kind of a ‘far east’ connection, with the layered ‘mudguard’ area on these and overall shape resembling Taka Hayashi’s work for Vans Vault, particularly the Akat LX. Check out gold and pine colors in more photos after the jump, let us know how these compare to the classic Vans Chukka Boot, recent hits like the Chukka del Barco and competitors like Nike’s Aina and Go, and grab your Mesa Moc from Off the Wall shops like DQM.
