Vans was the first major sneaker brand to emphasize boat shoe inspiration in its collections, but they didn’t go hard with the duck boot trend that came in the docksiders’ wake. Ducks have so much more distinct a style and purpose than deck shoes that it’s natural to see relatively fewer make it to retail, but then again, we know for a fact that the fall and winter seasons are filled with precipitation. Enter the Vans California Chukka del Pato, a fusion of waterproof weather-beating with a familiar Off the Wall chukka shape that adds a crepe sidewall and reversed waffle tread pattern for improved traction. Two of the three you’ll see after the jump below are rather bold, leaving the brown/black pair to fill its traditional role, so click through and let us know which looks best before you seek out a pair at your local Vans retailer. via FNG
