Are you familiar with the Nike Air Tech Challenge II first run colorways? We just got reintroduced to the iconic ‘Hot Lava’ edition this past Friday, and now another of the 1989 OGs sporting that classic splatter print has come onto the horizon with a retro release pending. This ‘Clay Blue’ Air Tech Challenge 2 is named for its cobalt sections, is done mostly in white leather and also includes orange accents and a bit of grey. It’s so closely linked to the ‘Hot Lava’ edition, and their product numbers are ordered in sequence, but this one carries with it a little less historical significance, though judging by the first pair’s reception last week, you’ll probably have to be ready if you want to get yours at retail. Stick with Sneaker News for a release date and let us know how the ‘Clay Blue’ ATC 2 compares to its famous sibling.
I need these right here.... Ended up grabbin da lava's and they are so much better in person. So I kno these will be better in person too
This is a must have if you grew up in the 80s watching and playing tennis like me. This was McEnroe's colorway primarily but also Brad Gilbert was known to wear them
So glad to see this alternate OG colorway coming back. It's definitely not as in-yer-face as the hot lava model, but still stands out from the crowd.
