Nike Air Max 90 Current - Ben Drury co-lab

The last Nike sneaker Ben Drury designed is one of the most sought after Air Max 1s on the market today, he designed it in 2006 as part of the “Air U Breathe” collection which included sneakers and apparel from Hitomi Yokoyama and Kevin Lyons. Now two years later, Nike is working with this talented ground again on a new collection of apparel and three colorways of the Air Max 90 Current. Drury’s design, similar to his Air Max 1, features plenty of black on the upper along with a sharp contrasting red swoosh and a white outsole. He also applied graphics on the tongue label and heel tab that reads “oh 8″ making references to the Olympics and the 8/8/08 opening ceremony. The lining and insole also feature graphics designed by Drury in a checkered pattern and feature the “oh 8″ graphic as well. Ben Drury is a Freelance art designer based in London. As art director for Mowax Recordings he oversaw the design of sleeves, toys including collaborating with Futura 2000 on his book. He still designs sleeves, tee-shirts, books and adverts, for himself and other people. Nike Air Max 90 Current - Hitomi Yokoyama co-lab

In 2006, Nike worked with three artists to create a collection know as the “Air U Breathe” collection which included sneakers and apparel, the artists included Kevin Lyons, Ben Drury and Hitomi Yokoyama. Now two years later, Nike is working with the three artist again on a collection of apparel and three colorways of the Air Max 90 Current. The above AM90 Current is designed by UK based Japanese artist Hitomi Yokoyama, using inspiration from the upcoming Olympics and the number “8″ and octagon references. Yokoyama designed the color-blocking along with the graphics that adorn the tongue label, heel tab, lining and the insole. He’s a short summary of Hitomi Yokoyama, he first moved to the UK from Japan in 1992 and started working for Gimme 5 in 1995, designing for both Gimme 5 and Goodenough UK. He specializes in allover prints and has collaborated with Undercover, Mad Hectic, Let it Ride, aNYthing and Bathing Ape in the years since. Nike Air Max 90 Current - Kevin Lyons co-lab

In 2006 as Nike celebrated the 3 Decades of Cushioning and introduced the Air Max 360, Kevin Lyons were among the three artists selected to design a collection of apparel and sneakers based on the concept the “Air U Breathe” the other two artists were, Ben Drury and Hitomi Yokoyama. The trio is back once again designing a collection of apparel and three colorways of the Air Max 90 Current. Lyons’ AM90 Current is similar the Air Max 360 he designed in terms of the brighter colors used. The upper consists of mandarin and white with just a hit of black for accents. The tongue label and heel tab feature a character illustrated by Lyons calling out the reference to ‘8′ and the 8/8/08 Olympics opening ceremony. The lining and insole also feature the character as an all over print with each calling out ‘8′ in different languages representing the variety of nations participating in the Olympics. Kevin Lyons is an artist/designer/art/director/marathoner living in Philadelphia. He has worked with Nike, Jordan Brand, Girl Skateboards, Commonwealth Stacks, HUF, Stussy, Tokion Magazine, 2k, BEAMS and his own experimental arm – Natural Born.
