As warmly as most sneakerheads welcomed the Air Max LeBron VII, the biggest buzz surrounding the shoe was perhaps thanks to the Red Carpet NFW edition. People went crazy for this crisp color scheme and classy woven upper, only to find out that the actual release would be extremely limited in quantity. The Red Carpets hit only four stores last Thursday and were sold out before most people even knew they had dropped. Now we bring you the good news that we have not seen the last of these beauties in stores. There will in fact be a restock of the eagerly awaited kicks at select House of Hoops and Foot Locker locations, so if you missed them last week, you should have no excuse when they hit shelves on December 3rd. We have steadily been keeping you up to date on the latest on the DJ AM Memorial Fund auction on eBay, and as you may be aware, a large portion of his collection has still not shown up for sale. If you’re wondering what else you can expect to pop up, you can get a glimpse of a couple gems that are now on display at Undefeated. To help raise awareness for the auction and honor DJ AM in the process, a glass case has been set up at UNDFTD Silverlake with a few of AM’s treasures like the N.E.R.D. Dunks and Rocafella and Black Album Air Force 1’s to name a few. You can keep reading after the jump for a look at more of the display, and check out the progress of the Deckstar x UNDFTD DJ AM Memorial Fund Auctions on eBay.

It was kinda easy to dismiss the Nike Zoom LBJ Ambassador II since the Swoosh decided that only Asian buyers could cop these in their local sneaker stores. The only way you’d miss these is in the dead of night, cos the mix of black and anthracite commonly known as ‘triple black’ is smooth enough to take another look. The tumbled leather upper should do well for outdoor courts, sustaining their shape and (lack of) colour. We’ll keep you posted with release updates. via NLB

Back in August we gave you a look at the Nike Air Max LeBron VII in the black/metallic gold colorway, also known as “The Phantom.” A few months have passed and we have some great detailed images of these LeBron VII’s. The shoe is predominantly black, but that doesn’t mean these LeBrons don’t have some flare to break up the monotony. There are metallic gold details on the L23 logo button, lace loops and surrounding the Swoosh that pop off the black background very nicely. If you’ve been waiting for a better look at these, check out a ton of crisp detailed images of the Nike Air Max LeBron VII after the jump. Via Kinstor.

Let’s take a close-up look at the LeBron James sneaker Nike doesn’t want you to have. Ok, so that might be a bit harsh, but the Nike Zoom LBJ Ambassador II ORAP is pretty clear in ending with ‘AP’, which signifies an Asia/Pacific-exclusive drop. The geographically-limited release is probably the Swoosh’s attempt to do something special while continuing to grow the game of basketball abroad, because we know that these deep blue denim lowtops would play well to the stateside crowd. And truth be told, resourceful sneakerheads can always get what they need from the ‘bay or forums, so let’s enjoy these photos and you can keep checking Sneaker News for updates. via NLB

If it’s first-come-first-served, go ahead and award the next Project Bluefoot contest to Sneaker News. Upon hearing that LeBron James plans to change his number to ‘6′ in honour of Michael Jordan, we crafted a quick look at what LBJ’s new logo might look like. Adding New York Knicks colours in another hint of things yet to come, we offered a take on the L23 ‘crown’ logo that incorporates his new number. The only challenge is that the use of ‘23′ lets you incorporate the ‘B’ and ‘J’ in LeBron James, whereas the 6 is somewhat limited in this respect. Take a look at ours after the jump, and if it inspires you, you can enter the contest before the November 30th deadline.

If you are one of the many who missed out on scooping up a pair of the eagerly awaited Red Carpet edition of the Air Max LeBron VII, the good news is that there are still some more fresh colorways in the pipeline. Here we have a look at a crisp new version that splits the upper between Black and White in a similar fashion to the Red Carpets. The shoe features smooth White leather around the the toe and lower ankle, with the top half sporting a Black on Black look accented by a White Swoosh and Metallic Gold accents, as well as a healthy dose of Flywire reinforcement. Release information regarding these is still unknown, but stay tuned for more pics and specific details on the drop. Via FatboyKickz.

Many expect LeBron James to create a new phase in his career by signing with the New York Knicks or some other bigger-city squad when he becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer. You can consider the artist’s rendering above an indication of a less significant change that hints at the whole summer-of-Ten thing.
LeBron James is changing his number to ‘6′ starting next year. The King knows he’s not the ‘next Michael Jordan’, but he does revere MJ:
I just think what Michael Jordan has done for the game has to be recognized in some way – soon. There would be no LeBron James, no Kobe Bryant, no Dwyane Wade, you name all the best players in the league right now and the last 10 years, there would be none of us without Michael Jordan.
For those in the know, this isn’t a huge shock. LeBron has been spotted warming up for Cavs games wearing number 6 (one night even slipping it on by accident while sitting the bench), wore that number on his way to Olympic gold, and oh yeah, he’s been saying it since at least February 2009: “If the NBA retired 23 because of Michael like baseball did with Jackie Robinson [42], I would definitely switch it. Maybe I would someday, we’ll see.”
After last night’s victory over the Miami Heat, Bron-Bron suggested:
It’s time [for the NBA to retire 23]. He’s the best basketball player we’ve ever seen. Mike does it on the court and off the court. If you see 23, you think about Michael Jordan. You see guys flying through the air, you think about Michael Jordan. You see game-winning shots, you think about Michael Jordan. You see fly kicks, you think about Michael Jordan. He did so much, it has to be recognized, and not just by putting him in the Hall of Fame.
Though the Knicks get nearly all the ‘10 press, we can’t help but wondering about the timing. See, Heat GM Pat Riley was so impressed with MJ himself (must’ve been all those playoff drubbings in the early ’90s) that he made the double-triple off-limits for Miami players during His Airness’ farewell tour in ‘03.
Could this be a sign that LeBron would be changing his number anyway, and that there might be some sample pictures leaked that would reveal his intention to sign-up for the South Beach lifestyle?
That’s pure speculation, of course, but a LeBron-Wade team seems like a natural candidate for the next great NBA dynasty. It’s a marketing opportunity so powerful that it could probably even break through the invisible Nike-Jordan Brand ‘wall’. Stick with Sneaker News for updates on all LeBron James sneakers.
