size--reebok-pump-20-00

For those who have seen the original Reebok Pump (the Bringback in case you weren’t sure), or may remember Dominique Wilkins holding it down with these on, you may recall how absurdly high these high-tops are.  A while back Size? gave warning that their big collaboration with Reebok was going to be something to not reckon with.  As stated last time, their Pump20 release is really for the collector, only releasing in a colossal size 20, making it hard for people to rock these on a regular basis.  But it only seems appropriate given the name of the UK shop and the alloted number of shops taking part in this collaborative project.

Now Sneakernews can give you a first look at some more images of their giant Pump20’s.  Continuing to play off the “20-foot monster sneaker” imagery found on the previous post, the UK shop creates some nice shots portraying a gargantuan perspective using miniature models.  Quite amussing.  Check at the last of the images to get a true point of view of how big these shoes are, when comparing them to average sized sneakers.

Celebrity Feet: The Rzas Sneaker Carpet?

Global fame can bring all kinds of riches.  From special editions to collaborations and some that owe their own place in streetwear to celebrity fans, we see all kinds of celebrity sneaker trends.  In this edition, peep what Method Man’s boy RZA is reppin on his ‘W’-emblazoned rug.  The way the offwhite shag carpeting drapes into the tighter-cut logo in the middle is pretty amazing, but don’t get distracted and miss the man’s kicks!

Never one to fit in, you notice that RZA seems not to care about keeping up with the Wales and Cudis of the world, but there’s still a place in his sole for Air Jordans, Nike Air Max 90 Boots, Reebok ATR basketball sneakers, adidas kicks, Timberland boots and a pink and blue pair that looks to be the Puma Clyde (or Suede, perhaps).  Those all might be decoys, though, since we picture him more like these photos: rocking a pair of crisp Clarks Wallabees.  Enjoy more shots of RZA shooting the new Supreme lookbook at the Wu-compound in Jersey.  via SDSD

24 Kilates x Reebok Pump 20th Anniversary Collection

The cat’s out the bag and now previews just keep coming out of the woodworks.  Adding to the list of publicly seen Pump20’s now is Barcelona’s 24 Kilates.  For this installation, 24Kts wanted to stay fairly true to one of it’s original colorway, respecting the past and showing admiration for its inventiveness of its time.  But what may seem rather unimpressive to Pump fans because of it’s simple “general”colorway, they certainly make up by knowing how to add some innovative touches of their own.  Found on certain parts of the upper, as well as the tongue are translucent plastic paneling to reveal the actual Pump air cushioning technology.  Accented in orange, white and grey, this feature is sure to be quite interesting to watch while incessantly pumping the tongue.  As you may know, these Pump20 will be very limited (31 pairs to be exact) and only available at 24Kilates on November 20th.

Espionage x Reebok Pump20 Anniversary Collection

Having a glimpse of Stolen Riches’ Pump20 yesterday, you might realize that most of these 20th Anniversary Pumps take on some type of neutral or gray pallette. Leave it to Espionage from down under to take on a different approach… a much different approach. The Sydney shop produces a Pump that takes on a futuristic-sinister feel compared to the rest that we’ve seen. A black and white colorway, the upper is equipped with carbon-fiber paneling, along with glow-in-the-dark speckled midsoles. A trend in these limited edition Pump designs, these come with a few lace choices- black, red and black with glow stitching! And just to remind ‘heads who was the creative mind behind these joints, Espionage branding can be found in the form of lace locks, custom Pump hang tag and label tag stitched into the upper by the anklet. It’s amazing to see how unique each of these 20 Pumps are due to the cultural and global locations behind the creative minds. via SnkrFrkr

stolen-riches-reebok-pump-20-05

Stolen Riches may not be a be a widely recognized name amongst sneaker boutiques, but the guys from Toronto are definitely holding it down.  In fact, enough to have been chosen as part of the elite twenty for the Pump20 collection.  Not only milestoned as its first collab with a major brand, but Stolen Riches is the only Canadian representative in this particular project.  Therefore, they decided to make the design all about the shop’s geographic relevance.

If you read up on the Sneakersnstuff Pump20, you may have recalled some casual criticism that some of the other Pump20 weren’t designed with weather and their time of release in mind.  Tongues have been bitten as we see here that the Stolen Riches Pump20 is all about fending off the harsh weather of winter.  Built with a Teflon-treated pinstripe upper, these babies are water and snow resistant.  Add the leather liner not only makes it comfy, but also ensure your feet to be snug and dry.  The tongue is perforated leather for a nice material contratst, while the soles take on a smoked black rubber for a “black ice” effect.  Accented by a yellow pump and hangtag, as well as a choice of 3 laces- black, red and you guessed it- yellow.  For a first collab, kudos to Stolen Riches… this is serious heat to melt some of that snow.

As you may already be aware, the Reebok Pump is celebrating a big birthday this year. The innovative Pump technology was first introduced in 1989 and not only made a big splash at the time, but left a legacy of fond memories in the minds of those who were around to appreciate the first go-around of Pump sneakers. To celebrate the Pump’s 20th birthday, Reebok will be teaming up with 20 different sneaker shops from all over the world, allowing each to bring their own vision of the Pump to life. We have already given you some sneak peeks at a couple of the upcoming collab editions of the OG Pump, but now we get a look at the entire list of contributors, as well as a video showing some of the Pump20 collaborators discussing their thoughts on the project. Keep reading for a full breakdown of all the shops that will be involved with the upcoming collection, and stay tuned on November 19th for the official unveiling of all 20 designs.
