Vans drops the higher cut answer to their original Style 36 pretty rarely, but maybe that should change.  Comparable pairs like the Blazer and Pro Leather are quite a bit more common, so there’s definitely a demand for the kind of ankle-height vulc soled classics like the Vans Mid Skool presented in two new pairs above.  Both of these happen to overlap with Nike Sportswear’s ‘Vintage Blazer Pack’ coming up this weekend, with Barbados Cherry and Vallarta Blue canvas and suede colorways offering timeless appeal.  Click in to see both in more detail, then cop yours from shops like Caliroots.

The selection of tonal red kicks from Nike Skateboarding has been consistent if deliberate in 2014. It started with that Hyperscreen-reinforced Stefan Janoski SE, then we got a Lunar Gato for England’s World Cup march and there’s an all-red Janoski Mid coming up with a mesh upper that would make sense for the summer. This new Nike SB Eric Koston 2 fits in as well, with its Team Red suede upper adding Laser Crimson accents with a white midsole at the base. Click in to see more angles on these, then cop yours from shops like Titolo.

Nike SB Project BA “Hacky Sack”

nike sb project ba hacky sack 01 Nike SB Project BA Hacky Sack

As long as we’ve known about Nike Skateboarding’s ‘Hacky Sack’ pack, we’ve expected Brian Anderson’s signature shoe to take on the woven footbag look.  Having seen the Stefan Janoski pair a few times as well as the Eric Kostons and Dunks, and with the reported release date coming up soon, it’s about time we had a look at that Nike SB Project BA in question.  And here it is, covered in that same multicolor woolen material with black accents, a white midsole and gum outsole, just like the other three pairs in this year’s 4/20 set.  Check out more angles after the jump, and be ready to cop these on Saturday at shops like Premier.

“Hacky Sack” Nike SB Stefan Janoski

April 16th, 2014 by | No comments

The Quantum footbag sneaker is basically just an adidas Rod Laver that’s been altered enough to avoid legal issues while simultaneously provide a larger striking surface. The fact that you almost certainly did not know that before reading this means that Nike Skateboarding’s ‘Hacky Sack’ pack will now ascend to the throne as the most famous hacky sack shoes ever. Which one do you like best? This Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski is covered in a woven material that could have been a bean-stuffed sphere-ish in another life, and given the fairly minimalist construction, you’ll have a chance for some serious wool-on-wool action. Click in for a closer view and stick with Sneaker News for more (where’s the Project BA?) as we approach these joints’ Saturday release.

Wear and Tear: Nike SBs That Change Over Time

Getting the exact colorway you want sometimes involves a bit of work. That’s the basic idea behind custom sneakers, and there are any number of ways to achieve a one-of-one look. Paint and maybe markers are the most obvious choices, and beyond that, you’re looking at material customization as the next level. Jeff McFetridge’s 2003 Nike Vandal broke new ground in that respect by introducing a cutaway upper that could be tailored to reveal a hidden base layer.

Supra Skytop “Red”

Supra has a good thing going with this new luxurious line of Skytops.  Following up on the linen edition we saw about a month ago, these two new Supra Skytop LX drops also manage an upscale feel.  Particularly the tonal rouge edition, which we don’t have to tell you has more than a passing resemblance to the almighty Nike Air Yeezy 2.  There’s also a black pair following the same route with leather and suede up top and a translucent outsole.  Click in to see both pairs, then cop yours straight from Supra.

Nike SB Dunk Low “Hacky Sack”

Sneaker News clued you in on the ‘Hacky Sack Pack’ forthcoming from Nike Skateboarding last week, along with word that there could be a Dunk joining those Janoskis and Kostons we showed you (plus an as yet unseen Project BA).  It seemed to make sense because these Nike SB Dunk Lows have the same color code, and indeed, the woven multicolor material with black accents on a white sole works just as well on the Dunk as the aforementioned signatures.  Click in for a closer look and let us know if you’ll be kicking these into your sneaker circle this weekend.
