With that being said, it’s good to see the sneakers getting some wear rather than getting tucked away in closet. May 25th is shaping up to be a monster of a sneaker release date, with a ton of heat both new and restocked set to hit on the eve of Memorial Day. At or near the top of the list is the long-awaited ‘Black Toe’ Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG, complete with ‘Nike Air’ branding just like the 1985 original. Interestingly, they’ll be joined on the 25th by the similarly-branded Air Jordan III Retro ’88, which means the day has some serious historical implications. It looks like the Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe” retro will arrive on one of the busier days of the year in terms of sneaker releases. That would be May 25th, a day that will see restocks of the Air Jordan III ’88 and the Air Jordan IV “Thunder”, along with the retail debut of two separate LeBron styles and a brand new Kobe. Could the hectic day possibly spread the traffic out a bit, making certain sneakers easier to pick up? Or will the Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe” be the most-sought after item for the day? Richard Hamilton is one of a few players left in the NBA active during Michael Jordan’s tenure with the Washington Wizards, and one of only three to have played with him there (winning NCAA and NBA championships is also quite rare). Rip’s Jumpman connection goes back even further to his days at UConn (and presumably all the way back to Coatesville). So while it might be a bit easier for him to pull a few strings, he’s still just like us in being proud of new pairs. Here we see the Chicago sharpshooter showing off two fresh Air Jordan 1 Retro High OGs, the forthcoming ‘Grape’ Vs and a new color of the Retro 1 ’93 that despite photo filters appears to be an orange-laced silvery style. Hamilton also got playful in matching a slightly older release in the ‘Chicago’ Xs to the Bulls logo, so check out all these shots below and let us know which of these you also copped.

The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Celtics” (Release date April 6th) is one of a ton of styles coming out in 2013 with the ‘Nike Air’ treatment in place. It’s also one of a couple of Air Jordan 1 models we’ve seen so far to get outfitted with the look of a specific NBA squad, the “Bulls” and “Knicks” doing the same earlier in the year. Check out the clover, metallic gold, white, and black combination that is the Air Jordan 1 “Celtics” (Complete with an overlay that appears to sport a parquet floor look) and pick up yours a little bit ahead of schedule from agauche1 on eBay.

Another Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG is joining the mix in the month of April in the form of this crazy patent leather pair. The upper is a shiny black affair with a crisp metallic gold Swoosh cutting across the mid-section. And, as denoted by the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG stauts, this pair will have the ‘Nike Air’ treatment on the tongue, and the colorway does indeed line up pretty closely with the ultra rare black and gold Air Jordan 1 OG. A second original Air Jordan 1 colorway is ready to hit stores – only this time it’s done right. The Black/Varsity Royal colorway does indeed carry the heralded ‘Nike Air’ in a interesting year of brand follies, but unlike the 2001 Retro release, these aren’t individually numbered via a label on the back of the tongue. Dropping right smack in the middle of one of the biggest release weekends of the year, does the Air Jordan 1 ‘Royal’ have the strength to elbow its way to the top?
