AIR JORDAN XI The Air Jordan XI released in 1995 and was designed by Tinker Hatfield. It was the first Nike/Jordan basketball sneaker to use patent leather and carbon fiber. The Air Jordan XI is considered to be one of the greatest sneakers of all-time. Since 2008, Jordan Brand has released an Air Jordan XI in December, and is one of the most coveted sneakers each year. The deep stories and events that shadow every Air Jordan in history is what made the Retro such a booming success, and as far back as 1994, Nike made sure that we were reminded of the message behind each design. Since the first Air Jordan Retros in 1994 during MJ’s first retirement to all OG and Retro colorways that hit stores in the late 90′s and 2000′s, a tw0-sided post-card detailing a brief history of the shoe as well as an iconic flashback image of the times came included with the shoes; these cards have been referred to as Retro Cards, and while some may have not given them much though, some sneaker collectors did their best to gather them all. With the Air Jordan Retro Card making a surprising come-back with the upcoming Air Jordan VIII Retros and the possibility of more Retro Cards with future Retro releases, it’s about time we took a look back at every single Retro Card that Nike ever put out – from the first ones in 1994, to the latest ones that came accompanied with a Doernbecher release. 2013 will be one of the deepest years in a while for the Air Jordan XI. Not only are we getting the expected holiday release in the form of that “Laney” tribute, we’re also getting a couple of Air Jordan XI Low pairs. Well, “we” is sort of a misleading term there, as it appears that the Air Jordan XI Low “Pink Snakeskin” will be a GS exclusive. The younger sneakerheadettes out there foaming at the mouth for these are probably too young to remember that this exact colorway released over a decade ago. It was May of 2001 to be exact, and while the snake of pink seems to be a more lush in this 2013 version, these can be considered a Retro of a Retro – if you catch our drift. No firm release information has been revealed just yet, but there’s a definite Summer vibe to these, so perhaps a drop by the end of June is a real possibility. The Air Jordan XI Low is indeed coming back with the snakeskin look. Shown here is the retro version that should be releasing in 2013, one that looks to remain exclusive to the GS sizing. Could further retros for the bigger footed among us be in order? This is the year of the snake so we wouldn’t count that out entirely. Snakeskin Elevens seem to be a perfect for the 2013 Year of the Snake, and with rampart rumors regarding an Air Jordan XI in a snakeskin upper continue to roll around, we’re glad to see that at least one colorway will in fact return. The Air Jordan XI Low “Snakeskin” will in fact return this year in the original WMNS colorway of pink, only these will be GS exclusive this time around. It seems like the WMNS Air Jordan Retro is entirely phased out, but the ladies are copping GS sizes anyway! A full shot is below so take a look and stay tuned to Sneaker News for updates.

The MLB is almost back, as we’ve got opening day games coming our way as of next week. Sports Illustrated is of course turning up their baseball coverage as a result, which has landed Tampa Bay’s own David Price on the cover. It’s also landed a crispy pair of the Air Jordan XI “Concord” there, as that was Price’s sneaker selection for the photo shoot. You’ll notice that it’s not a cleat, so don’t expect him to all of a sudden showing up in Air Jordan PEs on the regular. Jason Sudeikis is winning. The man has Olivia Wilde on his arm, floor seats for the Knicks, and a crispy looking pair of the Air Jordan XI “Space Jam” on feet. The SNL actor has been spotted before in this very sneaker, and indeed a pretty wide range of Air Jordan goodies suggesting that he may or may not be one of those “friend of the brand” folks that gets product ahead of the rest of us.
