The 2007 release of the atmos x Nike Air Max 1 is currently one of the more sought-after Air Max 1s in history, leaping off the insanely popular “Safari” and “Viotech” versions that the Japanese retailer crafted years prior. What makes this sample a interesting find is that the label on the tongue notes these as a promo sample made for the Summer 2011 season – four years after the initial release. A quick examination of this sample version doesn’t reveal any discrepancies from the released version, so the question remains: Why was this recreated in 2011? Was a wider retail release in the works, or did Nike make these for a VIP who happens to wear a size 13? This 2011 Promo Sample of the atmos x Air Max 1 is definitely a head-scratcher, so let us know what your opinions and see what the asking price was in this ended listing by sneaker_vault_23 on eBay.

Update: We’ve received notice that plans have changed and Atmos x New Balance 996 “Face Off 3″ will not be releasing at UBIQ.
Those of us nursing serious suede and mesh addictions are already well aware of the increasing regularity of New Balance 996 drops as one of many reasons the brand who produces more US-made sneakers than any other company, is on the rise. An even more important factor in this recent surge has been the popularity of several superbly executed collaborations, which the atmos ‘Face Off 3′ 996s reminds us has been an established trend in Japan for the better part of a decade. The ‘Safari’, ‘Viotech’, ‘Elephant Print’, and ‘Wild Beast’ designs of the Air Max 1 are regarded as some of the best Air Max 1s of all-time, so the sudden news of two upcoming AM1 collabs by atmos was certain cause for celebration. News of the atmos x Air Max 1 for 2013 did catch us by surprise, considering Nike collaborations have been a rare occurrence (and the last Air Max 1 collaboration, which came in 2010, was deemed the best sneaker of the year). Here we have a look at a sublime mix of tiger camouflage and a black python snake-skin upper – one of two compositions expected to release this January; atmos, once again, displays its affinity for premium materials with distinct textures/graphics, but whether or not these live up to the atmos standard is still up for debate. A full shot is right ahead, so take a look and give us your opinions on this much-anticipated release.
