Converse has released a variety of camouflage Chuck Taylors over the past year plus, styles ranging from general releases to Far East exclusive collaborations. Even the cartoon band Gorillaz used a camo print for one of their Converse Chuck Taylor All Star collabs, and on this latest drop, we see a hint of another famed primate. These Olive Branch All Stars have a bulbous concealment pattern reminiscent of A Bathing Ape, and they’re considerably more affordable than the camo Ape Sta that hit last month. Converse’s use of the ‘sweatshirt’ theme in the 2010s is a good example of how to extend a concept over a long period instead of milking it dry in one shot. There were Chucks in 2010 and ’12 with a Star Player Sock Mid in between, and now we see a release for 2013 that outnumbers the past three years combined. Again exercising restraint, we see Converse Japan issue not a rainbow, but more of a Punnett square of Converse Chuck Taylor All Star BK Hi and Oxes. Each height gets grey/green and blue colorways, all four of which you can see in more photos below.

Cat scratched, whiskered and otherwise distressed denim reached its peak in the mid-2000s as abrasions and even paint splatters made their mark on the decade’s jeans. The fashion world’s grown and sexy lean in recent years sees these styles de-emphasized in favor of a more ‘clean’ look, but they’ll never go away because this is just what happens when you love a garment for a long time. Fitting, then, to see the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star in navy denim, a release whose vintage appeal and blackened sole create some overlap with the ongoing John Varvatos capsule. Check these rugged denim Chucks out in more images below, then grab yours at retailers like Titolo.

How is it possible in today’s pattern-happy fashion scene that the iconic Converse Chuck Taylor All Star hasn’t released a leopard print design? The Chuck Taylor has indeed seen a few leopard-spotted hightop renditions, though two of three were issued through the Japanese-exclusive super-premium Addict line (the other 2010 pack also Japan only), and therefore are practically nonexistent on this side of the world. So this new rosette-covered All Stars are here to fill a need, and you’ll find your pair available today at retailers like Titolo.
