CONVERSE CHUCK TAYLOR ALL STAR

The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star is considered to be the oldest athletic sneaker in history. It was created in 1917 and later became a popular basketball and athletic sneaker. The Chuck Taylor is named after basketball player Charles Taylor, who was a player on the Converse-sponsored basketball team called the Converse All Stars. The Chuck Taylor All Star is an American fashion icon and continues to be widely popular today.

New Era x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Hi

Even though its parent company got started with the brand that’s the global leader in athletic footwear and gear, Converse is still considered the American heritage sneaker brand.  Their absorption into Nike, Inc. has improved not only the once-struggling One Star’s bottom line, but also sent them in the direction of collaborations and other modern marketing strategies.  The latest just so happens to team up with the Buffalo, NY company who’s been supplying Major League Baseball with 59FIFTY caps so long they’re the definitive name in fitteds.  So the New Era Cap Company x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Hi has a ton of history behind it (196 years, to be exact), and when you see how NE’s famed woolen (actually, polyester since 2007) weave matches with the Chuck’s immortal silhouette, you might get a sense for this as an almost ‘inevitable’ pairing.  Click through to see more details including the N-flag heel embroidery and a green outsole reminiscent of NE’s old underbrim, and be sure to check back with Sneaker News to see if these release outside of Japan.  via Hayabusa

Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Low Stonewashed Canvas

Before there were suede and mesh Air Max 1s, patent leather Air Jordan XIs or carbon fiber and Hyperfuse marvels like the LeBron 9, building a hit sneaker was a simpler affair.  In the case of the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star, all it took was a million colors of woven cotton to make an all-time classic, and these new Stonewashed Canvas pairs are a perfect way to connect today’s popular faded colors with the rich All Star legacy.  Five new colorways are available now straight from the source, ranging from simple black or white to seasonal looks like the teal ‘Green Bay’ edition; which one(s) will you buy from Converse?

Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Hi Huipil

Though you may have never spoken the word ‘huipil’, chances are you’d be able to pick one out of a lineup.  This traditional dress is one of the foundational ladies garments in Mexico and Central America, and its the latest international flavor to be mixed in with one of the US’ best recipes.  The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Hi ‘Huipil’ features a multicolor stripe print that you might call a ‘Mexican blanket’ were the One Star not so forthcoming with their inspiration.  Two pairs give your choice of energetic or cool, and you’ll find them available now at select Converse Japan retailers.

Offspring x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Trade Craft

London-based  boutique Offspring has collaborated with Converse several times over the past few years, the results ranging from traditional designs like 2010′s ‘Clean Crafted Pack’ to wilder designs like the All Star Hi 2 Straps that came with matching toys.  This new drop is firmly in the former category, this Offspring x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star ’Trade Craft’ trio a similarly upscale group whose handcrafted look underlines the quality of their rich suede or tumbled leather uppers.  Click though for more shots of the navy, burgundy and grey pairs after the jump, then grab yours straight from Offspring‘s e-store.

Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Hi Sweat

A little over two years ago, Converse issued a grey fleece pair of Chuck Taylor hightops that looked like they’d been cut from your favorite pair of sweatpants.  And just like basically every female college student in America, once the One Star fell in love with the effortless comfort of rocking sweats out in public, there was no going back.  This new Converse Chuck Taylor All Star ’Sweat’ Hi goes even further, opting for a drawstring-like primary lace in additional to the more traditional red secondaries.  Let us know how this pair’s red heather compares to the grey version when you click through for more images and stick with Sneaker News for more new Chuck Taylors.  Photos: Chapter

Super Mario Bros. x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star PS RZ

Converse collaborated with Nintendo on a couple of Mario-emblazoned Chucks last summer, but those were targeted more at the people old enough to have remembered the OG 8-bit character covering their uppers than the kids who make up the stereotypical video gaming demographic.  That changes in more ways than one with this new set of Super Mario Bros. x Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars for kids, a shrunk-down set for kids with the same pattern as last August’s drops, but with the addition of a side panel zipper as has appeared on several other special edition All Stars of late.  Check these out after the jump, let us know how they compare to the adult sans-zip version and whether you’ll grab a pair of these for your little sneakerheads.  Photos: mita sneakers

Nigo x Converse Addict Chuck Taylor Hi Canvas

Just about two weeks ago, Sneaker News shared with you a preview of two upcoming Nigo x Converse Addict Chuck Taylor All Stars that added zippers to the lateral sides similarly to what we’ve seen from a few other Japanese guest designers.  The Bathing Ape founder’s latest goes a different route, instead opting for the simplest (ultra premium) construction possible on two colorways so neutral you could wear them all spring.  Soft green and grey canvas designs both share Vibram PORON soles, brushed silver eyelets and lush cotton uppers, and they’re available now at Converse Addict retailers in Japan.  via HB
