UNDFTD x Fragment Design x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star

Upon seeing their most recent revelation, Sneaker News noted that UNDFTD has authored a heckuva lot of Puma Clydes in the last year or so.  Nine packs in ten months is quite a spread by anyone’s standards, but that doesn’t mean that eight in a slightly longer period is anything to scoff at, either.   The latest Five Strikes collab with the One Star brings in a name familiar to Nike Sportswear followers to freshen up one of the all-time greats.  The UNDFTD x fragment design x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star is completely dipped in red save its signature white vulc sole, which means everything from the eyelets to the foxing is Cincinatti’d, including the Chuck’s signature medial ankle patch, in this case a premium leather.  This could’ve been a solid Valentine’s Day drop, but what separates this design from some of the more transient V-Day fare is that a February 24th release doesn’t date these at all.  Undefeated Head of Design KB Lee showed off a few other photos that you can see after the jump; is their monochrome approach to the All Star a hit?

Converse Japan All Star Turndown LC OX

Converse has significantly expanded their selection of themed Chuck Taylor releases in the past few years, but one of the very first alterations this beloved classic ever received was the dual-layered design that allowed you to expose the inside color by folding the outside into a collar.  So while this isn’t the first time the One Star has offered a Chuck with an ankle collar as a key feature, the Converse All Star Turndown LC Ox is indeed a unique expression of this American classic’s DNA.  These come in at a peculiar-to-Chucks midtop height thanks to a leather-laced turned-down collar that accents the ivory or mossy brown leather uppers with red and blue beads.  The latest example of Converse Japan‘s envelope-pushing approach blends Native style with an OG silo, but would you buy them if US retailers had a stock?

Gorillaz x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Available

For a true sneakerhead, nothing can rival the feeling of a pickup you’ve been eagerly anticipating, but this latest collaborative release from Converse might manage to take it even one step further by making you even happier courtesy of a little sunshine in a bag.  The Gorillaz x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star we previewed here on Sneaker News last November is finally on the way to retailers, though the timing seems curious given the nearly significant gap since The Fall and no word of an upcoming album on the way.  Perhaps that’s why we’re adding one new design to the offering, a sketch-laden black-on-white design that utilizes the other pair’s unique camo pattern on the sockliner.  Click through to see more of both pairs and look for them at a Converse retailer like Millennium Shoes.

Missoni x Converse 2012 Preview

Missoni might very well be the world’s best known manufacturer of luxury knitwear, and they’ve managed to extend their reach in recent years will well-placed collaborative releases from a variety of partners.  The one that carries the most weight around these parts is the Italian fashion label’s ongoing tag team with Converse that’s produced some of the more unique looks in recent memory.  The Missoni x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star will return later this year in a fairly dark construction reminiscent of the Auckland Racer we previewed not too long ago, and the absence of the Pro Leathers we showed you at the same time suggests there could be even more in store for 2012.  Click through to see how leather details including the signature toecap make the Chucks feel extra special and stick with Sneaker News for updates on their release.  via Tres Bien

NIGO x Converse Addict

As you might expect from a guy who’s known for reinterpreting American classics and shifting Stateside trends with his releases from the Far East, A Bathing Ape founder Nigo was well ahead of the game when it comes to the Converse Addict Chuck Taylor All Star series.  Nigo showed off a pair from the second season of Addict Chucks a good while before they dropped at select Japanese retailers in late 2009, and it looks like the upgraded, Vibram-soled super All Stars made a serious impression on him.  Fast forward two and a half years later and we see that there’s a new set of BAPE Nigo x Converse Addict All Star Highs, both of which switch up the medial zipper trend and go for a lateral entry so as not to disturb the Chuck’s signature medial ankle patch.  Brown and white pairs will arrive at select retailers on March 10th, so stick with Sneaker News for word on their availability.

Converse Spring 2012 Premium Collection

One of the key reasons Converse attracts so varied and large a group of collaborative designers, is because their classic models are literally canvases upon which you can apply your own distinctive style.  The Converse Premium Collection for spring 2012 proves that this can be achieved in a number of ways, the most to the letter of which is the application of whimsical prints on the Chuck Taylor All Star in the latest round of Converse ♥ Marimekko releases.  Longtime One Star guest designer John Varvatos adds his own offerings, but as you might expect, they’re crafted in dingy destructed leathers instead of the classic canvas build.  Both of these collabo sets as well as a range of other beloved silhouettes  await your click on the jump below, and you’ll find these in stores at select Converse retailers around the world.

UNDFTD Japan x Converse All Star Hi All Good TYO

West coast streetwear giants Undefeated did a whole lot of collaborative work with Puma in 2011, and for their first teamup of the new year, the Five Strikes brand got up with the One Star on a Far East-based design that’s just as simple yet satisfying as all those ’11 Clydes.  The UNDFTD x Converse All Star Hi ‘All Good TYO’ takes a simple grey canvas approach to portraying modern Tokyo, but unlike the city’s pinball machine of neon lighting, these joints hide their flashy appeal with a reflective upper construction.  Purple laces find their match on a sockliner that features an Edo kimono print depciting an old Tokyo map for a shoe that finishes as a case study on how to perfectly execute a unique inspiration without turning the shoe into some kind of cooky mess.  UNDFTD Japan’s ‘All Good Tyo’ Chuck Taylor All Stars will release next month, so stick with Sneaker News for updates and check out some additional images in the meantime.

Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Leather Hi Year of the Dragon

Converse is the latest to offer a Year of the Dragon sneaker, this latest look one of the more intricate takes on its all-time classic and one that arrives right on time with Chinese New Year just over two weeks out.  The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Leather Hi ’Year of the Dragon’ Edition takes on the look of fine China porcelain thanks to a blue and white dragon-laden upper that adds a special top eyelet and lizard-like insoles to complete the theme.  A second pair opts for a more colorful route with red, yellow and green hits applied throughout the more weathered looking of the two pairs, and switches up its footbed design to reflect the change.  Expect both pairs at select Converse retailers this week and click through to see more detailed images in the meantime.  via FRESHNESS

DC Comics x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Leather Hi Riddler

The majority of the releases from the DC Comics x Converse project we’ve seen so far have stayed true to the comic book look, with colorful graphics that grab at your attention. If you’re looking for something more subtle, check out the ‘Riddler’ release for the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star shown here. Paying tribute to the Batman villain of the same name, these come in a premium leather dipped in the same gooey green that The Riddler sports in the comics. Oh and if that wasn’t enough for you, there’s also his trademark question mark logo on the back end of the shoe. Check out the full photos after the jump and hit up Size? in the UK to grab your pair.
